when I reach 80mph there is a definite shake felt in the steering wheel . I don't think its tracking I did have that checked. plus wheels were balanced too. where I live there is no WIM type of businesses, plenty of kwikfit type of establishments. can anybody recommend anywhere within a 50/60mls radius of York that will do a thorough check of suspension & steering

Wheel shake at a certain speed, assuming not braking or anything will be wheel balancing.
The weights can easily drop off...

Wheel balance issues usually disappear around 80mph having gotten progressively worse from 50...

there is no movement at all until the speed is at 80

Not likely to be wheel balance then...

Can you drive through it? If so, go everywhere at 90mph+.....just don't get caught! :y 8)

You must obviously have found this out when driving on your personal test track, because as we all know the max limit is 70m.p.h. and we're all law abiding citizens[paragons of virtue even :o] on here :D ;D ;D or are you doing a lot of autobahn driving ::)

New tyres needed ?
Mine used to have a vibration through the the rear at 90. New tyres, no vibration. :y

In my experience, front wheel balance is at around 50mph in Omega, but goes when up to proper speeds. Rear wheel balance shows up worse around 85-90mph.
Random speed steering wheel wobbles, and a random feeling of warped discs under braking, is normally suspension wear - front wishbone bushes on Omegas.

I bet it needs rear wheel balancing. I was told rear wheels don't need balancing. but googling the problem the guys say they do. also I as I hit 80 I think its a rear problem, back in May I had all tyres changed . front wheels were balanced , backs were not
Fixed that for you :y
