Title: Whooosh!
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 06 October 2017, 17:09:54
On my Ford Mondeo 2.2 Tdci I've noticed today a loud whooshing sound when accelerating.  ::)

I havn't had a chance to investigate yet, but I'm assuming it's turbo related and probably a split boost pipe before the inlet manifold.  :-\

The car starts and runs well otherwise.  :)  Any thoughts chaps?  ??? TIA!  :y

Young kids pay money to make it sound like that, innit?

I do like the Mondeo, although obviously without the engine from a cement mixer.

Personally I would torch it and claim on the insurance. This is not strictly legal but.......... :).

I like my Mondeo and the 2.2 Tdci is surprisingly quiet and quick!  :y

You should try one out M'lud!  :)

My Uncle has the 2.2 petrol Mondeo Vignale and that's very nice!  :y

Dosn't go whooosh though!  :-\  ::)  ;D

Yesterday my Mondeo stopped whooshing and went into limp mode with the eml light on.  :(

Luckily I found a split in the turbo boost pipe where it goes into the inlet manifold.  :y  I removed the pipe and 'fixed' it with a wrap of duck tape overlaid with a wrap of packing tape.  :)

I cleared the codes, it's now going OK and the EML light has stayed off.  :y  I was worried that the turbo had packed up which would have been expensive I'm sure!  ::)

I was tempted by a Range Rover with a supercharged 4.2V8 and an LPG kit the other day!  :y

The smaller supercharged V8 will be nippy enough. I'm not a fan of the 'Range Rooney' though.

I loved my Mondeo Mk4 with the 2.5T Volvo engine, however, now get double the mpg and £30 a year road tax from the newer one running on the black stuff ......

No such thing as a Vignale 2.2 petrol
