Are these any good ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIFI-Car-Backup-Rear-View-Reversing-Camera-for-iPhone-iPad-Android-ios-System-/122148238568?hash=item1c709a34e8:g:qUAAAOSwB-1Yx80d
Looking at maybe getting a couple for myself.
One for the back of the estate because the daft mutt refuses to lay down when he is in the car so its impossible to see out of the back window.
The other is for the back window of the van so I can see behind when reversing into a slot / driving around :D
Cunning plan is to view the picture on a iPhone SE if or when needed :-\
Anybody use anything similar ?
-
I don't use mine. Always look over my shoulder.

Idea looks good, but means you would have to unlock your phone and go to a player app each time you wanted to reverse.
Also for it to be on WiFi you would need to create a hotspot for the camera? That could be flaky as well due to inconsistent use. The player used for the camera would also need to connect to an IP, that would likely change as hotspot also not consistent. (DHCP)
Could be a pain to be reliable :-\
-
Re-read it, it generates it's own wifi that you connect to.
Still means hassle of opening/unlocking phone and going to an app each time you reverse.
-
Seems its as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike then. :)

Yep....designed for lazy bastards. ;D

a) Its egay, so therefore its shite. End of.
b) Seems a heck of a lot of faff - if you need a reversing camera, fit one properly, integrating into something like CID
c) I can't say I ever use the camera in my car, and the new XJ has *REALLY* bad rearward visibility. But the dear Lord invented door mirrors for reversing. Van drivers manage without looking out of rear window or cameras.
-
I've used the rear view mirror type a few times, I quite like them, especially in vans.
In case you aren't aware, camera at rear and the screen hangs over the rearview mirror. In normal use, you barely notice it's there. Once reverse is selected the LCD powers on and you get the rear camera feed.

Sounds like the Go-Pro where it expects you to have internet access to "sign in" to the control application on your phone. That's super convenient when you're 3 miles high flying a glider, as I discovered last week. ::)
Fortunately, an old version of the app isn't affected by such crippleware, otherwise the whole lot would be going back to them for a refund.

Surely get good signal up there though? :D

Shut it you tit ;D ;D ;D

Obviously ( to me anyway ::) ;D) that it wouldn't be used unless i've got the van tied to the back or i'm trying to reverse the car onto the towing hitch on the van with daft dog bouncing around like a friggin puppy in the back ;)
I'm also looking to put a switch inline on the reverse light wire that triggers the rear parking sensors because it gets on your tits when reversing with a van tied to the back.
You do get a lot of kids / dogs / retards who walk behind you on these sites so its something i'll look into over the winter months.

Given the directional cellular aerials do not beam directly upwards then sadly not. :y

You want to try the 370z, it has next to bugger all rear visibility ;D
oh and vans have parking sensors ;)

Not always. I've managed in vans, lorries and cars without rear visibility for over 20 years.
(Mind you, once you've had sensors and/or a camera you do find them very handy ::))

Agreed, the old Transit Connect I used didn`t have parking sensors so you just had to use the mirrors But since they have given me new Nemo`s for the last four years it`s great having parking sensors, incidentally the last three pick up`s we have had have had reversing cameras as well as mirrors.

We all know that Lorry / van drivers park by braille. ;D

It`s ok, I`m not a van driver :P
They give site managers vans to avoid company car tax ;)
