Killer Mitsubishi lies in wait for cyclist:

;D

Hard to see how they can blame the motorist for this - but I'm sure they will find a way!
Ron.
-
What no video of the parked Mitsubishi jumping out in front of the unfortunate cyclist? :-\
C'mon Uncle STEMO your losing your touch! ;D
-
Apparently the car was parked on the pavement :D

Oh dear, then they will fully blame the motorist and prosecute on a charge of manslaughter! The poor cyclist's family will have their revenge. ::) ::) ::)
The fact that the cyclist was not looking where he was going will be treated as a minor fact ::) ::) >:(
-
No, and also riding illegally oin the pavement?
Ron.

The fact that you make a poor joke out of somebody's death shows your true colours.

It is not a case of making fun out of anybody's death as I am sure all of us feel very sorry for his family.
No, the so called "joke" is just stating the often noted possibility that the car driver will always be prosecuted, but the cyclist not, apart from the recent case when even the very preventable death of a pedestrian by a cyclist received a very light sentence relevant to the crime.

Erm.......nah......it’s funny ;D

Debate, discussion and education about such matters are things i like to get involved with.
This is callous.
I know from experience exactly what the family is going through right now and i can tell you that blame is the last thing on their mind.

Couldn,t see that on the linked report. :-\ Tragic whatever the circumstances. :(

Guffer, I DO feel for the family and the cyclist, of course - I'm not THAT callous. My comment regarding blame was not aimed at the family, but at Plod, who looks for any opportunity to attack the motorist - you KNOW that to be true from your own observations......

Actually I find it very hit and miss. When they can prove thwre was blame they go for it. If therr is no camera footage or a lack of a clear cut case they couldn't care less.
I was once rammed off a road by a white van for no other reason than he thought that je should be the one following the car in front at 30mph (downhill in Sheffield). After flying over a parked car i landed at the feet of 2 coppers. They did nothing despite seeing everything including the overtake, the swerve in to my side, my crash, the damage to the parked car, to my bike and of course me. In the cycling community it is well known that the burden of proof to get a conviction is very high and 9 times out of 10 this level will not be reached and the person at fault will not be pursued by the plod.
As an aside my contents insurance paid for the damage to the parked car and i had to pay for the repairs to my bike. As the police did not pursue the crime there was no recourse against the van driver.
-
They wouldn't even give you a crime number? Nobody got his Reg. No., I presume?
Ron.
-
I did. The police just didn't care.
-
And that's one of a few incidents i have had over the years where the police couldn't give a shit.
Besides, that is beside the point. Using someone's death to make a joke is callous and i won't stand by idly. If it was a relative of yours i am sure that such a conversation would upset you.
-
That in itself is criminal - what do we pay them for?
I actually meant if you had the Reg. No. maybe your insurance company could pursue the claim?
They are happy to take your premium.....
Ron.
-
Thats par for the course.
-
Just another Darwin Award winner to me, there are plenty of them about whether they be cyclists or not.
-
For the record, the comment regarding the car being parked on the pavement was indeed a very cheap of the cuff remark made without factual basis or second thought :-[ And for that I apologise.
It's a sorry state of affairs, but the sad reality is that people die every day without so much as a blink...
-
I did. The police just didn't care.
A HGV side swiped friends of ours in their car. The HGVs reg number was taken & still Plod couldn't care less ..... do not just lycra'd cyclists
-

I would have made a complaint against the police in that case, clearly neglect on their part.
