Whats wrong with people today, surely if folk choose to sit in a Designated Disabled Seat on a Train, Bus, etc, then you should be prepared to give it up for the needed. >:( >:( :'(

I’ve never understood how train operators are allowed to sell more seats than are available.

The Airlines do it all the time, only difference is they wont let you stand or sit on the floor.

Nah, it goes back to before that ineffective knobhead. This is all due to the way we bring up our little baskets, and shield them from winning and losing, right and wrong, and refuse to properly discipline the little bastards.
So its a problem we can only blame on ourselves.
Obviously, there is a cure, but you'll all have to vote me as president, and "modern parents" will get very upset.

I don't think that your sort of president usually gets into power via the ballot box TB! ;D

SWMBO stood almost all the way from Pompey to Manchester while 8 & a half months pregnant ...... that was 1988. So nothing much has changed.

Gone.
My Mrs went to London by train recently. Reserved a seat on return journey. Two very able bodied guys came along said that Mrs and the lady siiting next to her were sitting in their reserved seats and insisted that the two ladies moved so they could sit down.
All BS. The two guys did not have valid reservations with GWR and relied on the "British" habit of not making a fuss. Thanks GWR railways.

Right, people are assholes. Have been for some time now, that is a given for the times we live in. We have this attitude that as long as parents are "doing their best" no one has the right to criticise. Never mind whether they are doing an objectively good job. Makes me want to vomit.
BUT, if the story is true, that train conductor needs sacking, I'd have ousted someone from a disabled seat quicker than you can say "entitled asshole", and encouraged them to put in a complaint if they had an issue.
Contrast this with southern rail whinging on about how conductors are essential for the comfort and safety of passengers. Whose comfort and safety was that useless bell end serving?!
Sorry, rant over

Aperently the Guy has had 2 Heart Attacks, a Stroke and has a Pacemaker fitted which he mentioned to the Conducter, he was sitting on the Floor for 2 hours, How can the people sitting in the Seats live with themselve seeing this chap on the Floor while they sitting in there comfy seats is beyond belief.
Its a shame that the person who took the photo didn't take one of the culprits sitting down in the Disabled Seats, if Social Media is as good as they say it is, post the pics, and let them be shamed.
Its a good job I wasn't there, I would have hit f&cking roof and probably got myself Arrested.. >:(
-
Sorry Zirk, they have already clearly shown that they are beyond shame, so no amount of adverse publicity would have any effect. They needed to have been physically removed from the disabled seats and preferably from the train completely. Then, with luck, it would have been the last train and they would have had to walk home! :y

Last March I was going up to London on a Saturday when the England v France match was on at Twickenham. I bumped into an 85-year old friend at Farnborough station. The train had standing room only and a young lady got up from her seat and insisted my friend sat on it. :y :y :y Good on her and thankfully not everybody can be tarred with the same brush and it does offer some hope for society. :y :y :y

As a boy I was taught to give up my seat[if the bus/train was crowded] to any old people or any woman[pregnant or not]also to hold doors open[shops and the like]to allow women to pass.Although I vary rarely use public transport these days these are habits I still use to this day.

I also was taught to do this and still do along with ushering my wife to the inside of the pavement and standing between her and any oncoming vehicles when crossing the road.
A couple of weeks ago, whilst shopping , I was at the check out and a young(ish ) lady was struggling with a trolley filled with three large bags and another that couldn't be fitted into it. I said I'd take one or the other to her car for her and she looked at me as if I was about to rob her . Realising her situation she agreed and I carried the fourth heavy bag to her, conveniently parked closest to the door ,car ::). Once there she instructed me to drop it at the rear of the car and said "that'll be all " .... not even a begrudged thanks .

Last time I crossed swords with an arrogant "little darling" on a train, he lost his phone - but he was warned several times before I did it.
I wonder if that is why you can't open windows on trains any more.

I try to do the same as i was taught by my parents. But it,s getting more thankless a task as even older people now don,t seem to think that they need to acknowledge a simple kind act. Even a smile or nod would do, Forelocks, (yes, i did say forelocks) do not need to be tugged. :(
