Title: Lack of drive from auto box when cold
Post by: woolley11 on 20 November 2017, 21:23:21
Before the head gasket (subject to investigation) on MV6 went - there was little or no drive from
the auto box when cold. It was fine when warm.

Does this suggest gearbox oil being low or more sinister issues ?

Thanks in advance anyone

Low fluid will eventually kill the box, and poor shifting/lack of drive could be either low fluid or a knackered box...

Change fluid first, and go from there :y

What he said /\

Plus do you regularly park on a slope, at work or at home?

Thanks - hopefully I'll get away with just fluid level then 😬

If not I've a knackered engine AND box 😰

There's a scrap yard near us - he had a 3.0MV6 in a while ago.
I might see if still there and suss out engine/box - bit of a lottery though.

Rather repair what I know is OK otherwise

Filter clogged, put a new one in with new oil.
