Which is the best way to go with these OBD II readers, cheap and cheerful from ebay for £3 or pay £20 for supposedly better ones from Amazon?
I saw and ad for one of these Car Dr OBD II readers and they`re around £20 - £25, unsure if they`re any different to the el cheapos ???
Pointers anyone?

My £8 one from EBay has worked flawlessly with 4 phones on lots of different cars, giving exactly the same results as more expensive one box OBD tools. It's a pity that it won't work on the Omega.

Even works on the Omega :y

I had a cheapie and cooked it. TBH, the same probably would have happened with an expensive one.
So, for staright code reading/resetting, cheapie, and if it blows up after a year, buy another.
I got a handheld Autel, as I keep getting fed up booting up my (sluggish) XP diags laptop that always seems to have a flat battery ;D

The real Cheapee's can be a bit hit and miss, in fact you dont really know what your buying these days whether cheap or not they all seam to be Clones of clones of clones, the original Long Grey ELM27 are the best ( see pic below) but again theve been cloned up so many times its a punt.
The really cheap ones all seem to work, for a while, then suffer intermittent connection issues, Hang with an App or just die, my guess is through poor workmanship or dry joints or crappy components,
I bought a few of those Baby Blue Mini ones a while back, think I picked them up for around 80p a hit, down to a few now that I haven't lost, left in cars or just died.
