For sorting my 3.2’s sills, an excellent job. Really pleased with the result, should keep the old barge going for a few more MOT’s.
I joined the forum in 2006 and Serek in 2008 can’t believe it’s taken until 2018 to actually put a face to the name :o
I’ll be back though, worth travelling to excellent people :y

I agree, well worth the journey from here in Witham (70 miles each way), especially as my local garage man admits that he doesn't even like cars and knows ****-all about Omegas!

He’s a decent, honest mechanic.
Might get him to do my ATF, just because I don’t fancy lying under the car in the cold and straining the old back :)
Might get him to change my wishbones while I’m there, so I can bin the poly bushes ......

You have confused me with your comment regarding giving the polybushes the elbow; doesn't OOF wisdom say they are the Dog's....?
I've got ATP wishbones, fitted by Serek a few weeks back and after full geometry locally, it has transformed the car. Locally there is a bridge with terrible tramlines due to action by heavy lorries, which before the wishbones/tracking gave me white knuckles trying to keep the going in MY choice of direction: now I don't even notice that they are there! :y 8)

Why? Whas wrong with your poly bushes?
I fitted poly bushes to my Elite a few years ago and it transformed it.
I am going to fit poly bushes to the Project MV6 (as soon as it stops raining). It is fine on smooth roads but I hate the way it veers off line on poor surfaces.

I found, as outlined above, that proper 4-wheel and camberalignment transformed my Omega into a proper car again: it's amazing what you get used to, isn't it, until you get things sorted properly?

Probably not.
A brand new bush is probably every bit as firm as a poly. But a poly doesn't degrade.
(Assuming road grade polys, not race grade ones).

IIRC, you fitted those ATP ones? If so, I'd expect 2 years before the bushes are shagged.

Yes, as I said at the time you were buying them.
Granted, they are cheap, but as I said at the time, its the fitting costs and alignment costs that are the expensive bits, so saving a few quid on the wishbone is actually false economy.

Did you keep your original wishbones Ron ? If so, strip out the front and rear bushes, or give them to me and I can do it for you.
Then if you suspect your ATP version are going to need replacing in the not too distant future, buy a pair of GM rear bushes, which I can press in for you, and a set of polybushes. Original GM balljoints may well be ok, so don't replace them unless they show signs of being shagged. Dont ask me how I know this. :-[ ;D

Funnily enough, yesterday I was just about to throw them away but iot was too cold to go to the dump with them, so I still have them.
That sounds like a good plan, Albs, thank you very much.
