The Merc battery is giving up the ghost no idea how old it is may even be original got all bills/ receipts but no record of battery replacement, what's the opinion of the ones Halfords sell prices from £113 - £170, 3year guarantee 5 year guarantee,to lifetime guarantee all in stock.
-
Halfords batteries are fine, but very expensive. A motor factors would be cheaper.
-
I think even the largest battery should cost well under £100 if you shop around.
-
agreed, you can get well known branded Batteries for around half that price if you shop around.

My Merc's battery came from Mercedes. It's a Varta, 125A & was about £120
(and a week off work to fit it ???)

The Halfords ones are all the same battery you just pay more for a longer guarantee

Can quite believe that.

It's not just Halfords that do it.
If you buy a cheap battery with a short guarantee, you're gambling that it will last longer.
If you buy an expensive guarantee, the supplier is gambling that it will last longer.
-
Do you know anyone close by that has a Halfords trade card?

I have one of these (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-OEM-Heavy-Duty-Car-Battery-Type-096-100-78ah-4-YEAR-GUARANTEE-24HR/111232380774?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649) in my BMW 530d and is great value IMO. :y

I would be inclined to go with Mercedes rather than tother options, if only from a complete history point of view... I would draw the line at having it fitted by them though ;)

I won't say 'I told you so', but it just shows that it's worth an ask :y

All fitted, surprisingly no code required for radio/command system , good job because looking through all documents I don't appear to have one.

Most seem to be coded to the car these days.
