Title: Battery query.
Post by: 2boxerdogs on 07 February 2018, 12:09:12
The Merc battery is giving up the ghost no idea how old it is may even be original got all bills/ receipts but no record of battery replacement, what's the opinion of the ones Halfords sell prices from £113 - £170, 3year guarantee  5 year guarantee,to lifetime guarantee all in stock.

Halfords batteries are fine, but very expensive. A motor factors would be cheaper.

I think even the largest battery should cost well under £100 if you shop around.

My Merc's battery came from Mercedes. It's a Varta, 125A & was about £120

(and a week off work to fit it  ???)

It's not just Halfords that do it.
If you buy a cheap battery with a short guarantee, you're gambling that it will last longer.
If you buy an expensive guarantee, the supplier is gambling that it will last longer.

I would be inclined to go with Mercedes rather than tother options, if only from a complete history point of view... I would draw the line at having it fitted by them though ;)

All fitted, surprisingly no code required for radio/command system , good job because looking through all documents I don't appear to have one.

Most seem to be coded to the car these days.
