Title: Nice people do exist
Post by: Entwood on 26 March 2018, 19:49:24
Given all the "doom and gloom" and the activities of many selfish people ..  stories like this restore my faith in human nature  :y :y

It is indeed heart warming to see people remembering and showing respect to old soldiers who have no family etc. when their time is up. :y

Got a friend who is an Undertaker & this takes place quite often very sad but does show the good side of the human race.

One thing I have learnt over the last 8 years or so is that once your in the military, you never really leave the family  :)

Respect to all the lads and lasses who took time out to give these a good send off  :y

Sadly this often occurs, and it is a shame that veterans are not better supported in life, especially in their twilight years. (eg like me ::)) :y

Even though the Royal British Legion / Royal Air Force Association do there best funds are limited but I have found that once you pick up the phone and they know who you are, you will be remembered and they will help if they can  :y
Trouble is, us ex military lot tend to be a proud bunch and don't like asking the question.
Me personally was a gibbering wreck 8 years ago and only picked up the phone out of shear desperation. They treat me like a person (not a victim) and i'll never forget that ............

I won't comment on the Military Covenant or i'll end up crashing the forum with my choice of descriptive language  :-X :-X
