Title: 2.6 autobox dropping out of gear ?
Post by: wingerdave on 31 March 2018, 11:13:36
Hi Guys,
Seem to have a problem with the box dropping out of gear usually when in 3rd
It is only now and then and seems to pick up again if I let the revs drop to idle.
Gearbox oil level is fine and otherwise seems to run smooth with no warning lights

Next time, check all the lights by gear selector haven't all lit up...

...but I'd wager you need a replacement gearbox.

Did you check the fluid level with engine running ?

Checked levels with engine turned off during service.
Wonder if this is likely to become quickly terminal or be annoying for a while.
Thanks for the replies

Level needs to be checked when running and up to temp ideally  :y

Also on level surface.  :)

Pound to a pinch of sh*t .... if the level was "good" when checked with the engine OFF .. it will be well low when checked with the engine running as it should be ...

This is how MarkDTM does the job ....
