Title: quick advice/help needed volvo vs vectra
Post by: mathewst on 27 May 2018, 21:20:51
Need some qucik advice.
Looking at two cars tomorrow.
Vectra c with 1.9jtd engine
Volvo first gen 2004 year with 1.9d
Not sure what to buy.
Vectra is more expensive/ and newer.
also from outside it has more scratches from town driving
Both have roughly same mileage.
Volvo seems to have Renault engine inside.
Anyone had these cars and how do they compare??

Chalk and cheese. Vectra C is much bigger, probably twice the rear passenger and boot space... If buying as a family car, you have a choice of two... View the Volvo first, but unless it's mechanically horrible, buy the Vectra :y

Agree 100%, the comparable choice would be v70 vs vec (although I think the vec is still bigger. I wouldn’t choose a V40 for, well anything tbh.

IIRC that particular Volvo had a Renault engine and was put together in the Netherlands.

Your age is showing; that's the RWD 300 series Volvo.

The first V40 is basically a Mitsubishi Charisma, although built in Holland.

The next gen are Focus based, and from then on are all Volvo.
