Title: Cover on plenum
Post by: MoonTheLoon on 01 July 2018, 17:41:48
Can anyone tell me, does the plastic cover on the plenum with the ecotec print(2001 3.0 v6 ) click off  or slide off. And when removed,  does it give access to breather hoses?  Was told it clicks off but afraid of breaking it.

Just unclips, depends what pipes you're trying to get at.

Be aware that the so called "top hat" seal[number 11 in the diagram]appears to be no longer available in Britain or Europe as I understand it,they are however available from the USA.

As said, it unclips with the aid of a flat screwdriver. There's just one screw underneath, the other two screws are already visible on the forward part. You need to lift these two parts as one and as level as possible to avoid damaging the top hat seal underneath the breather bridge. The easiest way is to loosen off the throttle body screws (no need to fully remove the throttle body) until you can pull it forward enough to see the end of the pipes going in to it. Easier to undo the pipes at the back first though. When you have both parts removed, simply pull them apart. Don't be tempted to try to remove the rear part on its own, you will put unnecessary strain on the top hat seal.  :y
