I have had mine out enough times, but on reflection they have stayed in their plastin containers. Here are my 2 spare pumps, still in their plastic holders.

The electric pump itself sits in a smaller insert in the big housing. There are a couple of small tabs ( I think it is 3 ) that you push to the center and then you can pull it out of the outer big housing.

Then to replace the pump motor there is three other tabs that holds a cover that keeps the pump in its enclosure. Those tabs are sort of having saw tooths that keeps it in place, you have to slightly bend them apart to pull up the cover that holds the pump. When that is done you can get the pump motor free.

Hope this helps

The strainer/teabag on the underside needs to come off. .... "they just pull off", so I had a duff pump...and the plastic collar just snapped on me! i am a methodical, pragmatic, non-ham-fisted sort of James Mayish person. So take it steady, I'd suggest a twisting action, also pry it down with a flatbladed driver, don't strain the plastic collar inside. Did another one that way and came off a dream.

As above squeeze/pinch the tabs in, you can do it one tooth at a time, then move round, do the next, and so on.  :)
