...when cycling through Islamic countries with links to ISIS. A US millennial couple quit their jobs and just did that! What could possibly go wrong? ::) ::) ::) :-[ :-[ :-[

Once I got past the "ducking morons" reaction to this, I started thinking:

I think that, in general, individual people can be, and largely are, kind.
Ideologies, however, are almost universally not kind.

So when you're wandering through ISIS territory, you aren't dealing with people, you're dealing with blind ideology, and a particularly nasty one, at that.
