You can reduce the Aldi air compressor to £59.99 + £3.95 in the Aldi online shop. When buying online select voucher code option on the basket and type COMPRESSOR20

Ive been resisting the temptation to buy one for years, as I don't really have room for one and I don't really need one.
This has got me thinking again though..... :-\ :D

I've had a compressor for a while ,about the same size as aldi item
I love just being able to pump up a tyre in seconds rather than spending 5 mins watching a crappy cig lighter pump dance about the floor screaming .
It also gives the ability to spray paint, shutlz ,raptor, chain oil, fence stain
Just picked up a windy gun from lidl for £20 in a blow moulded case ,with sockets etc .
I think aldi have one for £15 :o ok it may not last it's 3 year warranty period ,but if it removes a few nuts that have been done stupid tight by a trained professional wheel fitter or the likes, £15 or £20 is peanuts
battery tools have come along way , i'm still glad i have a compressor

Those 1/2" guns working off a small compressor are less effective than a medium length breaker bar. Not to mention taking a lot longer to do the job in a really noisy way. The only thing I now use a compressor for is spraying; grinders, drills, sanders etc are much better when electric. I have a cordless impact wrench, but use it to save effort on large bolts(suspension for example) rather than actually loosening them.

Thanks for the information Nick W :y
I only just got the windy gun, not tried it
compressor is wolf air 50L ,8 bar
if windy gun will undo wishbones etc then good enough for what i paid
I do need to invest in a decent long breaker bar
I have a snap on one about 2 foot long but I extend it :-[ with tube
the extending wheel brace I snapped off the !/2" square :(

Sealey AK7302 (http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?id=20&method=mViewProduct&productid=13939) is good: about £30, 1/2" drive, 750mm long with a replaceable knuckle. Which I've just done on mine as I broke the square off trying to undo the Metro hubnut - the first time it's ever failed to undo anything, including the V6 crankbolt which had the breaker bar bow shaped before the bolt loosened.
I also have a Snap On 600mm 1/2" drive ratchet which is excellent as you would expect for over £200. I used it so much that it had to have the ratchet replaced. I have suggested Sealey's equivalent many times over an impact wrench

About 20 years ago I was struggling with big nuts and bolts on rusty Land Rovers and Range Rovers. My 1/2" ratchet is banana shaped because I tried (and gave up) trying to undo the bolts holding a tow ball onto a drop plate.
Local factors had an offer on for a 3/4" socket set - I can't remember how much but £60 comes to mind. I can barely lift it.....
Took it home, slipped the correct socket + ratchet handle onto the ball joint bolt and....... the bolt sheared clean off.
I don't use it very often but I have found time and again that forcing a tool beyond it's limits results in breakages and often injury too :( so I don't feel that I wasted my money.

Thank you Nick ,On your advice i will purchase one , but £17,25 seems a nicer price :y

I don't use ratchets until the nut is cracked on anything m10 or above

£60 sounds good ,but i don't think adding 3/4 sockets to my massive tool set would be viable when i own angle grinders and petrol disc cutters (my GO TO when a bolt is too big to shear off or undo ;D)

3/4" or cutting your face open... 🤔

PPE, we all use it , always :y ;D :D
never cut my face open while using power tools
have smacked myself a few times when rusty nuts let go using a breaker bar in confined space ;D

Cheap Windy guns are generally piss poor, and not worth the effort.
Battery guns are worth the effort, but more expensive than air ones. But avoid the shite that is rebadged Clarke/Sealey etc, as they couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. My little DeWalt might only be rated to 190Nm, but it will do/undo to 190Nm, unlike the 400Nm rated Clarke/Sealey 24v one, which struggles with 100Nm

Sometimes 3/4" on it's own isn't enough. I'm currently doing the diff on the LC, and the side screw in retainers were a tad stiff..

That garage simply does not have enough crap in ;D

I'm sure we can rustle up a skip load :D
-
No bottles of Calor gas to make it 'untidy'. :-X :-X :-X
-
It's the 'dirty' room at work. My garage does have the obligatory crap in it, including 3 gas bottles - One C02, one R134A and one butane/propane.

I was thinking more that, if I tried that, I'd just lift the bench off the floor because it's not bolted down ;D

Yep, that happened. I had to bolt the diff to the bench and then time my swings on the arm so that the bench 'landed' between heaves. It's quite a heavy steel framed bench, and I calculated the torque required to undo the retainers was circa 2500Nm. If you look at the plank of wood in the background - that's 8 feet long and 2 inches thick. It split when I had the diff bolted to it.
