Due to now servicing a fair few cars, I am getting fed up with little bits of old oil, brake fluid, atf etc in various containers waiting to be disposed of.....
Mark has the perfect solution (in my mind) a 20L Vuaxhall oil drum in the corner of the garge, just for waste fluids. Nice and easy, just 1 container to empty your oil pan into, then drain that at the tip, and bring home again.
So, has anyone got one, or something similar waiting to be thrown away they no longer want? If you are coming to Newent, even better!
Something like (https://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/images/CATD20L_1.JPG)
Nice wide opening, with a refastenble lid.
Cheers all

Buy yourself 20l coolant, flush coolant on all cars, then you have a nice 20l drum left ;)
Worked for me... ...or have a word with your local service dept/garage, see if they have a spare empty one they are throwing out
-
didnt think of coolant, good plan :y
-
In fact, want to give Ljay's a good flush anyway with some biodegreaser thrown in as well!
Its a plan!

buying 20l of red is slightly more expensive than 4 x 5l for some bizarre reason...

Dont mind if I get the drum out of it, methinks I will have to order that though

How many drums do you want, can probably get you an estate full of the things if you need them!

I could do with another one if there are spares going....

I have a couple but not going to Newent :'(
If you buy 20l of Vx Semi Synth in a tub it's not that much more than the 4x5l offer so that's another route you could take.
Took 40l of old oil to the tip a couple of months ago. Got a few shifty looks from the attendants. ::)

Why not, works a treat, just chuck a few squirts of fairy liquid down to and use the neightbours drain not yours.
Ow yes, dont drop the sump plug :y

Shame - company i worked for used to make these type of closed head drums - from 20 - 30 Lits. I designed their current range back in early 70s - they are still making same designs today suitable for carriage of dangerous goods.
I think one of their competitors either sells similar direct or through agents - try http://www.harcostar.co.uk/index.html

Trouble is you really need to add creosote to it and you cant get that any more!
Spray it over the under side of the car and in the chassis rails, now thats the old trick!

You can, if you know where to go.....
The factory that pressure treats retro wooden railway sleepers as well as all BT's tele poles is only a few miles from me. Its the original 'good stuff' and not the BnQ and similar lookalikes...
