It is just fails a warranty company pay out on ,
not common fails that the aa/rac etc would fix every day
which would be a more realistic idea of how reliable

when a gearbox starts to fail ,joe public tend to ignore (turn the radio up) or be blissfully unaware until the forward motion of the car is impaired  ;D

No surprise there. Current Vauxhalls are woeful piles of shite.

No surprise that a Land Rover is top of the list!  ;D

But also it seems that Vauxhall will fit in nicely with Groupe PSA.  :-X   ;D

Land Rover reliability is truly shocking for something which costs so much new :-X

"Plod" meaning ex-Police or just a description of the handling characteristics? ;)

Disco 3/4's are surprisingly refined, handle very well for a big 4x4 and arn't as agricultural as you might think.  ;)

I think you'd like them Kevin.  :y

The 5 is even better, even if it is bigger and have more room inside than some pikey wagons

I'm not sold on the 5, but it's growing on me.  :)

You're right about it's size though, as it's bigger than a full fat Range Rover!  :o  Shame the petrol engine is a hairdryer though!  :-\  ;D

But the first ones had an arse even a mother would struggle to like ;D

These surveys are all wank.  I notice a few years back that the 5 series was the worlds most electrically reliable car and the early L322 RR was the worlds worse electrically reliable car.  This, despite the fact they are electrically identical, sharing the same electronics and ECUs and interconnect principles.

Laughable.

Not that the Brummies forgetting to plug it all together properly had any bearing on anything working reliably... Much :D

As you well know, I have access to (manufacturer's) warranty stats, and post BMW era JLR do not suffer build quality issues TBH.

Would I buy the following   ???
Landrover : NO
Mini : No, SIL had one & they had to remove the front of the car to replace a rubber belt
Old astra No, newer astra : maybe
Frenchies : NO
Merc : No, mate works for them & is kept super busy delivering spares around the south coast
Spanish / italian : NO

Most reliable is Honda & yet they now have a problem with the new 1.5t petol engine

Honda's reliability has been average for a couple of decades now.
