Title: 20 ltrs oil drum
Post by: raywilb on 11 December 2018, 21:22:49
having just nicely purchased a 20ltr oil drum it got me thinking it will be a tad awkward to measure 5 ltrs without the risk of spillage. so I may fix a tap to the drums lid. I wouldn't mind but I gave a lot of stuff away when we downsized house & a 12volt pump was amongst the stuff.

I buy mine the same way, best I've done is I keep my 5 litre bottles whenever they are available/see people chucking them out. Propping the drum on the decking / a couple of spare wheels etc and pour into the smaller bottles using a large poundland funnel works well.

I like the idea of a tap, though  :y

I keep few 5L tubs spare, I have a massive filter which I use to decanter the big 20L drum.

I got my tap from VX, turns the drum into a useful dispenser :y

Isn't there a pump that will fit the 20 litre barrel? Something like https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Sealey-Self-priming-Piston-Pump-TP89-5/2288055349?iid=192474748716&chn=ps  :-\ :-\

It's only a 20l drum, put it on a shelf or the bench and use something like THIS (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Drum-Tap-Aeroflow-Dispenser-for-Plastic-Drums-Fits-our-20L-25L-Containers/183557592397?hash=item2abce2954d:g:IKYAAOSwFdpbQypg:rk:8:pf:0)  Gravity is a lot more effective than one of those pumps

after I posted above topic I googled 20 ltrs drum taps & was able to find quite a few caps with taps attached, bought a pack of three for £9 . fits 20 & 25 ltrs drums. delivery estimated 15th - 17th. I am sure I,ll never need three so if anybody needs one pm me & when they arrive I will send one on/
