I really can't believe people still take their cars to Kwik fit, heard years ago how bad they were and am pleased to say have never used them.

It's a bit like going to British Gas. Shocking service but still they queue up with the vaseline. My M.I.L. has heard me whining about the British Gas cowboy boiler installations in both her current house and the previous one (where she paid double the going rate for a sh1te job, as is commonplace). She's recently found a decent, honest local plumber at my recommendation, and been delighted with his work. The fuse on her boiler circuit blew a couple of days ago and half way through diagnosing it on the phone I get "I think I'll just phone British Gas". Gaaah! ::)

The thing is, if they rebranded to call themselves "Foreign Gas" they probably wouldn't get touched with a bargepole. ;D

Nor can I! :y :y

Perhaps one such person who did out of ignorance took their car to them and was fleeced so decided to give KF an even bigger problem!

If so, they deserve a medal :D :D ;)

I suspect if the bank was compromised/breached, your data would be included along with everyone elses', irrespective of whether or not you use online wanking.

I love online banking. It makes everything so simple. I can apply for a loan at 10:00 and it's in my account by 10:05. I can repay said loan instantly. Payments to other accounts are almost instant with faster payments. Switch my debit card on and off, set up standing orders, etc, etc.
Lovely  :y

Sounds like they haven't fixed their IT problems with the only tools to hand: An air impact driver, breaker bar with 3m scaffold extension and Sammy yet then. ::) ::) ::)

Why not? They're a perfect example of branding, high profile advertising and lots prime retail sites. Their customers are the car owners who neither know, nor want to know anything about their cars. Most of us are like that about some aspect of our lives: I use computers, but have no interest in them.

Because I personally don't like being conned into having unnecessary work carried out on my vehicles, they are well known for this.

I suggest that would not be due to Kwik Fitup, but your company / car lease company stipulating that is the maximum they should be before replacement as of course the legal minimum is 1.6mm.

From my experience Kwik Fitup would like nothing more, and try to, change tyres nowhere near being a problem with their tread. ::) ::) >:( >:( ;)

Yeah, having similar issues when having to use Shitfit on lease cars she used to get, I can confirm its down to the lease/fleet company rules, as LZ says :)

I have only visited Shitfit once about 20 years ago to get an exhaust system fitted to my Senator.
While the car was still up on the ramp the manager appeared and asked if I was aware my rear tyres were below the legal limit.
I told him I was aware they were close to, but not below the legal limit and I had arranged to have a pair fitted elsewhere the following week.
He then told me that he was certain they were below the limit and he had a legal duty to prevent the car leaving the premises without a new pair of tyres being fitted !  ;D
Being younger and more fiery then, I told him he had ten seconds to instruct his fitters to lower the ramp and give me my keys or he would be leaving the premises in the back of a fickin ambulance.. He complied within the specified time.  ;D

Yet another example of this showers attitude to customers and their cars. >:(

Yes, seen all that and more with this lot!  Just 3 years ago I had the pleasure of yet again voicing my opinion of Kwikfittup in their local outlets reception area as they tried to change (deliberately, as they had been told clearly by us which one to change) the wrong tyre on her blue badge car that Mobility wanted done at KF.  They lost at least two more customers that day as they walked out after hearing my claims accumulated over 30 years!!  No one challenged me, not even the depot's manager!!  Says it all! ::) ::) >:( >:(

I've only used them once and that was for new rear discs and pads on my Omega when I first bought it and didn't have the time, inclination or facilities to DIY at the time.  After phoning around they were the cheapest, I dropped the car off, they did the job, charged me what they quoted and didn't try to upsell anything.

Maybe I was lucky?  ::)

Nah, they probably made the quota on the previous victim.

Never used KF but did once go to one called Motosave[unsurprisingly long since defunct]for a tyre.manager type advised me that their "technician" had noted that the exhaust manifold had a blow and the nearside lower balljoint was worn to a dangerous state and would I like them to give me a quote to put it right.I told him I knew of the manifold problem-it was a 2L SD1 and they were known for this-and that it was a dealer only part, the lower balljoint was part of the bottom arm which had just been replaced less than half hour previously at which point he "suggested" that maybe the play was in the wheel bearing and not the balljoint and did I want them to quote me a price to replace that :o :o.Strangely I declined his kind offer ;D
