Title: Do you feel lucky?...... Well, do you?
Post by: Tick Tock on 18 February 2019, 22:05:28
Travelling down the M5 this week and all of a sudden a large block of wood flew out from under a car in the nearside lane and hit the front of my car whilst travelling at 70mph. It bounced off the bonnet and flew in the direction of the oncoming traffic. When I got off the motorway, this is what I found.

There was obviously nothing I could have done to avoid the flying object - probably a chuck of wood from a pallet which had fallen from a lorry. I kept thinking I was unlucky to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

All those I've spoken to about it said I was lucky it didn't come through the windscreen!

So a once near-immaculate Omega, is now a scarred Omega.

Makes you think doesn't it? No matter how well you look after your car, there's potentially something around the corner waiting to spoil your day!

Very unfortunate for your car to be damaged in such a way,but as you point out the outcome could easily have been so much worse.

Probably the worst part of the bonnet to get damaged... being a box section. Two inches higher and it would have just been the grill  ::)

Bonnet takes about five minutes to change, and being such a rare colour you should have plenty of choice ;)

STEMO on form as usual.... only problem being I haven't seen another Omega for nearly 2 years now - must be just a Barnsley thing!

Anyway, I've dried my tears away now and after a couple of hours with a -
Mallet
Block of hardwood
Abrasives
Filler
Wet & dry paper
Rattle can

Looking a bit more like it used to (don't look too closely).

used with the hardwood block to raise most of the dent, and lower the raised area around it. If you don't do that and just fill the dent, the repair will always show :y
