I was pulled up alongside a huge Viridor wagon yesterday & noticed there were high pressure hoses from the tyre valves to the hub .... presumably to monitor/change tyre pressures to compensate for a change in weight. :-\
I've just never seen them before on a road vehicle ... only on stupidly expensive stuff on Top Gear :y :y

They run a lower pressure on the landfill sites to prevent bogging. Makes sense to be able to regulate it from the cab rather than manually adjusting individual tyres :y

It's to keep the tyres at even pressure, allegedly improves mpg, and combats green house gasess, and also allows pressure to be dropped to increase traction. Basically a money making gimmick, of no use for major roads, for military trucks and heavy off road use only.

Some of us with superior driving skills don't need winter tyres even with 510 BHP...... ::)
