F#ck 'em, erm on second thoughts not even with a 10ft barge pole ;D

As ever, he was spot on...
Especially about Caitlin Jenner ;D

He is an old man who's opinions are irrelevant in the modern world, and means nothing now to the younger generations.
Therefore, so what his name is to be dropped from an award. ::) :)

What's your excuse?
That's to say, at what age do you, or indeed any of us become 'irrelevant'?
-
No one's opinions should be irrelevant, esp the older generation. They are the ones who put governments in power.....
......and vote to leave the EU. Tee hee.
-
I reckon Al and Lizzie could soon become ' an item '....... ::) :-* :-*
-
......not that it has any relevance. :D

That’s a very bold statement, from someone who usually appears extremely pro-diversity! :-*

Yep, and look what a mess our generation has made :D :D
DG: We become irrelevant when we retire from a significant function, either at work or with a family. You lose the power and become just part of an increasingly old group who know one really takes any notice of, apart from the consideration by politicians of what you and your like are going to cost to keep alive!
So, what relevance has Barry Humphries to the modern world and age young groups now? Like us all, he is fading into history until he will be as forgotten as everyone else! :o :o :D :D :y

Please see my other post James (nice to hear from you again 8) 8)), but I am just being realistic. Working in my advisory role with Kent Police I see the very individuals that Humphries has commented on and believe me he is totally irrelevant to those issues and challenges. He has made comments that show he is not pro-diversity, and in fact has made fun of it. The Police are now tuned to diversity, as I am, and certainly do not relate at all to an old comedian who like Bernard Manning are history. ;)

The only mess certain members of our generation have made is by allowing mass immigration and pandering to freaks.
Whaderyereckon, Bernard? ;D

I was only playing, Lizzie, I hoped the smiley face would help reiterate that :y
As far as police stuff goes, didn’t even cross my mind - rest days are becoming more precious than ever, and after many years I’ve learnt to switch off when I’m not there :P
Speaking of which, its my weekend, I’m off down the pub! :y

The award was named after Barry Humphries, who, as most of us are well aware spent the bulk of his working life as a woman. How that cannot be relevant to the transgender camp?
No pun intended :D

I did & agree with Dr Gollum ??? .... some people are too easily upset on the behalf of others. As for transgender ... why not just live with what you've got? Plenty do.

For anyone to say that just shows a lack of knowledge of that condition. You have to understand what that condition is, with a brain gender opposite to your body's appearance and function. People who go through that from birth find they are living a lie; a fabrication, of their true self and cannot relate with the act of having to live in the wrong body, with frequently suicide being the only escape if they cannot get the help they need. Others making comments like you have only intensify the feeling of "no hope", with the police often having to cope with the aftermath.
I challenge you, or anyone else, to live as a women for a year, when your brain is so male, without a break, then come back and tell us all what it is like. I doubt you could last a month with all the derogatory comments you would get from strangers, family and friends, and find that male socialisation ensures you are often treated as being inferior (oh yes, as a female I know that only too well) unless your brain is actually female. For anyone to make the decision to be themselves I personally admire, and will always defend. It must be a very brave decision. Accept diversity, it is very real, and only ignorance makes fun of it. For many within the LGBTi community, who I have professional contact with, it is a matter of life and death.
No one should make fun of it.

He is an act, not for real. He was never living as a women, even when in drag. He would never have known what living as a women means, how it feels, unless he has the crucial female element that trans women have. To them being a girl/women, regardless of what their body is, seems perfectly natural. To a real, brain gendered man that can never happen.
Dame Edna was false, a charactur of a real women, as drag acts are. It was clever, but many times, tedious. Mrs Brown is actually a far better character and act, being quite funny and outrageous. But who in their right mind would ever suggest Brendon O'Carroll knows more about living as a women than a fully transitioned trans women.

This 'news' was in response to comments made in 2016.
Are you transgender or otherwise misdirected? Have you ever been?
Didn't think so.
So what, pray tell, gives YOU the right to tell me, or any one else what it feels like.
Your pious presumption clearly knows no bounds. Quick to judge others for their opinion whilst holding your own views on an exhaltuous and lofty gallery condescending far and wide.

The biggest problem that LGBT persons face is the fact of age old laws, these laws across the world started from the same place,, that place was Religion. It has caused 99% of the problems known to mankind. Get rid of religion and the world should be a happier place.

Sadly i think religion will get rid of the world first ....

As a thought ......
In "most" western countries church attendance, and the acceptance of "religious" views is falling at a high rate, which coincides almost exactly with the rise in "acceptance" of LGBT (and whatever other initials are added .. I've lost count) views, in fact it could be said those "views" dominate the social structure.
In other societies .... predominately mid-asian, pacific, (often referred to as "third world") religious attendances (of whatever religion) is rising, and at the same time the the acceptance of LGBT views is falling, to the extent that laws are being passed that severely limit the possible behaviours of those who relate to "LGBT"
Instantly the "west" denigrate those countries and try to insist that LGBT behaviours be "allowed" ( foisting views on other countries ...... interesting concept in the days of "freedom of expression")
So, what do we have ? In countries with rapidly rising crime rates, drug use, and the lack of religious leadership ... the concept of LGBT is no longer optional .. it is mandatory and woe betide anyone who speaks against it
In countries with strong religious beliefs the LGBT "movement" is resisted, and they are called backward ....
Strange how the moral ground is shifted by western media to suit it's own point of view ... :)

The exception is of course Thailand which manages to be both religious and tolerant of LGBT issues. ;)

It would be really good to be able to conform to the devout Baptist family way of life, but God forbid anyone this side of the Appalachians to dare suggest such a thing :-X

There you go again, as arrogant as ever and assuming no one knows anything but you and you are always right!
Believe me YOU are the one who knows nothing about this subject and are as ignorant as so many people are on a very complex issue. If you cannot take my expert, fully trained and experienced opinion on it, then you are as sad as your insults. ::) ::) ::)

Exactly, and that proves my point. Just imagine if you were having to live as a man when every fibre of your body, and more importantly, brain, is telling you to be female and you hate what you see in the mirror and having to act as a man. ;)

Cannot argue with that. Get rid of the middleman and worship God direct without the self opinionated and politically driven churches! :y :y

I completely understand what you are saying Entwood, but look at it all another way. In the West we have been through and partially out of the history of oppression, where religious compliance was almost mandatory, with the church ruling how the population should think, what it did, and even backing wars. Crime against the church, or when a person worshiped at the 'wrong church' was severely punished, with burning at the stake, whipping, and other forms of painful death. The Monarch and the Church was in charge and nothing but what they said was accepted - LGBT did not come into it - it was 'sins' like adultery, blasphemy, swearing allegiance to another but not the King / Queen, worshipping the religion opposite to the wish of the monarch, etc, etc.
The Eastern part of the world, in the main, is about 400 years or so behind our development, and still preach absolute observance to church law (not necessarily God's law) to suit the political situation and keep the populous under control. The ways of them are just as ours were hundreds of years ago, with death in a religious war seen as a way to paradise, ignoring the actual teachings of Jesus and Muhammad for peace, love, tolerance and understanding. We know though what the punishment is generally in many Islamic states; stoning, the very subject of the famous encounter Jesus had when challenging those about to stone a convicted person "let him without sin................". That part of the world is eventually going to come around and be a modern society, if religious war does not kill everyone first! Women are rising up in those societies and questioning the male dominance they suffer every single day. They are questioning their 'religion' as we have in our society, and want peaceful change. The ISAS business have highlighted how 'religious' war can ruin the lives of everyday people. The realisation is sinking in, as it has in the west to a large extent, that religious dogma, that ignores individuals rights and values, those very qualities given by God, is no way to go. LGBTi issues play very little part in anything within the grand scale of Islamic and Christian life in the Middle East. There are far bigger issues for them to face first. They will eventually recognise that Church political rule is unhealthy and does not help the people. It is a weapon of the state against the people.
In all this we must not forget Hinduism, the World's third largest religion with 900 million followers (Islam has 1.3 billion, Christianity 2.4 billion), largely in India, which is a "peaceful" religion, not believing in any single God, that has a far more 'diverse' outlook on life.
Eventually, the political influence of the Churches and their dogmas will be gone, and worshipping God direct in a personal free way as we are more and more in the west will become a reality. So will the understanding that God has given us personal freedoms and identity, to be ourselves, whilst of course obeying the Ten Commandments, which make no mention or give any specific direction on how not to be diverse, but with both the Holly Bible and the Qur'an tell us to love, be tolerant, be understanding and not to judge, as God alone will be the final judge.
We have, as a World, some way to go with the greatest of God's challenges to us; to live together in peace and harmony.
No one surely in the West wants to go backwards and lose our personal freedoms gained by our forebears with much pain and sacrifice. ;)

So to be clear, if someone chooses to worship the tree spirits and shit in a hole, they are somehow less than a white Christian woman who lives in a house with hot running water and owns their own car?
Because that's what you seem to be suggesting.
And lord alone know what any of that has to do with drones ???

I emphasised that we ALL should be tolerant, understanding, and not judge others as we shall be judged by God alone. I also mentioned the strong importance of personal freedoms / choice.

Committed atheist. It's not just that I don't believe in any kind of supreme being, I actually despise the the people who have used their cruel fantasy to subjugate the masses. When I say 'subjugate', I mean kill, rape, mutilate, steal from.........Islam gets a pretty bad press for the acts carried out by a few fanatics, but the catholic clergy have been doing much worse, in plain sight, for centuries. They're still doing it now, but blind faith, instilled over hundreds of years, keeps the sheeple from opening their eyes.

To agree with STEMO - wow! But I do on religion; fairy stories from Hans Christian (?) Anderson, brought abouit at a time when we did not have a police force to control the populace and to rule by fear of eternal hell-fires.
Sorry Lizzie, but there is no known justification for religion other than that a d now that we DO have a police force.....

Your statement that the people in the West are better somehow than those elsewhere...
Your tolerance extends only so far as you are not affected and your judgment serves only your belief. Both at the expense of all else. You are therefore intolerant and judgemental to a fault.

No, once again you misread what I have stated! ::) ::)
The West is just ahead of religious development in a lot of the East, just as democracy is. Whether it is better or not, as I said only God will judge, as he will judge us all. However, if you believe punishments like stoning for adultery is ok, and acting like ISAS did (although Jesus in his time commented on the subject of throwing stones) then fine that is your right. In our society it is not tolerated. Judge that as you will. ::) ::) ;)
-
You have just reiterated it. We're better because we have democracy.
Well, have I got news for you. Clearly we aren't. Hell, even Belgium has democracy.

Now re-read what I have stated! Did I actually say that? No, I even followed what I actually stated with "Whether it is better or not, as I said only God will judge, as he will judge us all.".
You really want to pick a fight with me everytime I make any comments; you have since I first came back to the OOF! I am only making MY observations and yes, opinions, like others on here do! Recent events have shown that we actually have very little democracy, and its possible that by the end of this year we will have no democracy at all.
As for "our western freedoms". Since the onset of the industrial revolution and the subsequent consumerism it brought, we have exchanged our personal freedoms, to a degree, for comfortable living.
For example, the comfort of travelling by car brings inevitable restrictions on freedom. I.e. the freedom to ignore traffic regulations etc. due to the possible harm we could cause to others by insisting on that level of freedom.
In the last 20 or so years our personal freedoms have been eroded to a much greater degree than ever before, since the Blair Govt.and the onset of globalism.
From the individuals point of view there was no good reason to give up the freedoms we have recently lost, but we weren't asked, they were just taken, and we were given packs of lies as reasons for losing them.
That is actually one of the reasons for the Brexit vote imo.

.... as I said only God will judge, as he will judge us all." ....
Who judges you if you don't have a God/god? ::) ::)
That is down to personal belief and opinion ;)

Oh yes indeed!! :y :y
There is absolutely no guarantee that all will not go backwards and we as a nation, and as a world, will lose our precious, very costly, won freedoms. It is down to us all, well certainly the new generations, to work hard to stop this happening. ;)

You seem to have a problem with that, as obviously you have some kind of personal issue generally Well now it is just bloody tedious! ::) ::) ::) >:(
You are as obnoxious as that avatar of yours was! >:(
I will take being obnoxious over being a pious, patronizing and condescending hypocrite.
