I just got back from the US where I hired one of the newer Impalas for the second time and it was a bag of poo.  Ergonomically crap, bad mpg, rubbish gearbox (keeps kicking down when you dont want it too)  that said though it did have an extension to the front seat through the middle where the wife could cuddle up :y
