Title: 65th birthday

 the wife & i have booked into hotels in York tomorrow & Sunday nights. Saturday night we have been invited to a friends 65th do at what used to be our local pub when we lived in york. my son has just informed us that our friend has had a heart attack & has died. my son actually got the news from my friends partner she was coming away from the hospital after going to identify him,. my sons a prat he said to her " does that mean no mushroom vol au vents chicken legs .

she apparently was ok . she knows my lad & knows it was said in jest to try to lighten the moment. i asked him what she said .

my son is 52. but she did take it as an attempt to put a smile on her face .

I bumped into our local pub landlord and his adult daughter, coming out of W H Smiths, and looking miserable. "Cheer up Dennis" sez I "It might never happen."
"It already has, Betty (wife) died this morning"!!!

Sad news. But I agree with DtB - use the weekend to raise a glass and recollect happy memories you and your friend enjoyed.
