Hi guys, I have a 2002 Omega diesel, 2.2L manual saloon CDX model. My Omega has been difficult starting for the past month. Last month I topped up my oil. Computer has been saying check oil level which I finally did today. I found oil level was down to minimum which means around one litre of oil has gone in past month (i dont do much distance driving). When I opened bonnet today to check oil I saw there is an oil leak on left hand side of engine block. From where could this be coming? The oil pump? Please help? Thanking you all.....

If near the top, probably cam covers leaking. It is a common problem. Not hard to sort.

Not on a diesel ;)
One of the diesel owners may advise better soon, but no real standard leak points on the 2.2. But should be easy enough to trace.
Poor starting has to start with glow plugs

My bad, quick reading and missed the diesel part. ;D Forget everything I said.

Thank you ever so much Addy and First Boy for your replies. So anyone have any ideas where this oil leak is coming from? Also have to add that it only has 3 glow plugs instead of 4. But always started before no problem and not cold weather. Plus have some (not a lot) white smoke when starting followed by a little black smoke and then gone - no smoke. Can it be dirty injectors causing the smoke when starting? Should I pour in injector cleaning fluid? Thanks for all your advice with this. This is such a great and friendly forum site :y

Is the alternator casing covered in oil?
Whip the oil breather pipe off the cam cover and see if oil runs out of it.
