Hiya! After being over there for a while, I found my bonnet looking like this! The car was parked in a car park while I was away.

closer look

It looks like spots of something has landed on the bonnet and roof.
Any ideas guys?
TIA

Looks like the results of acid, or some kind of paint stripper, being dropped across your car. :'(
Were you parked near high buildings being worked on by builders, or similar? ??? Or under a busy aircraft flight path? ??? ???

Hi Lizzie!
Nowhere near high rise buildings or workmen and definitely nowhere near aircraft. :-\ I live part time in the highlands of Scotland! 8)

I never done it ;D
It's lacquer peel
lots of chemical spills and reactions can cause this ,even bird mess
you can patch it plenty of youtube videos

Seagull shit! :(

I have a large area like yours on my bonnet I feel sure it was bird" Damage" Whenever I clean my car the birds seem to attack it. We get a lot of seagulls but what they eat to cause this I do not know.

Hiya!
I have just had a closer look and the spots look like weld spatter! You can see the spots on the 'closer look'. No seagulls up here!! >:(

On my wifes Chevy Blazer S10 the hood looks the same. It is the clear coat that have separated. Mostly because small chips in the paint from small stones hitting car in traffic. Then salt and water creeps in there and after a while it looks like that.

Hiya!
I found a spray tin of clear acrylic in my store. I cleaned the crud and loose lacqer off the bonnet and roof and I just lightly sprayed all the offending bits with the acrylic. Worked a treat. Can hardly see where I sprayed. Its not perfect but it will do!
Thanks for all your inputs. :y :y :y :y
