Title: Wheel part name
Post by: TheBoy on 03 October 2019, 13:57:49
Hmmm, does this bit have a correct name, as my searches for centre caps seem to only return the smaller round ones....

Item 12 DG, Page N6 on the EPC.

Page heading suggests it's called a Cap :y

Faded bit?
Bit that isn't scuffed to balls?
Round bit in the middle?

Dunno.  :P

No idea ..... but how have you let someone put clip on weights on your wheel?  ???

It's not a problem now as none of my wheels have anywhere to clip a weight to, but I always insisted they use stick on weights on the inside of the rim  ::)

Just to add...
they come off very easy ,no tools required  :(
if you clean and de-grease the cap and wheel center, put a couple of blobs of silicone between (to glue them on)
you don't need to remove them to get at the wheel nuts ,so semi permanent fixing is not a problem  :y

Usual names are broken or missing.

You're welcome :y

Thanks for the links, my searches were just returning the smaller round ones :)

DTB - silicone? As in the bath sealant stuff?  Not that I'm likely to have any that hasn't gone off ;D.  Its finding an adhesive that makes it hard to get off, but still easy enough for when it needs balancing again ;D.  Actually, I think that tyre has a slow puncture. Again.

instant gasket, RTV sealant ,bathroom silicone ,sanitary silicone
sticky rubbery stuff
screwfix £3.15 big cartridge (https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-general-purpose-silicone-clear-310ml/35887)
or
ebay £1.95 to fit through letter box (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SUPER-AURE-GASKET-MAKER-85g-BLACK-CLEAR-BLUE-AND-RED/162932741603?hash=item25ef8c55e3:m:mGIk8vA_LhPbrf73DJ8iipg)

don't go mad with it, couple of strategically placed blobs will hold it on without needing a gas axe to get it off when needed  ;D

never lost one off the Zaf elegance (tractor) ,or the 4 stud version on bro's astra G alloys

I'm sure if I go through my modelling toolbox, I can find a suitable adhesive that will do the job :)

Are you telling me, when you were little and dad was filling up with 4 star, you never unwound the window for a good whiff?

you will have to sniff it to make sure it's NOT solvent based
have a good couple of lung fulls
if it is solvent based you won't be bothered about wheel centers   ;)
or , if your "in touch with your feminine side" you could read the label ,
but that's like reading instructions ,it's a slippery slide apparently  ::)
