Title: Autochanger repair?
Post by: Diamond Black Geezer on 15 October 2019, 17:04:55
Just decided it will change discs, but won't play any of them... as this is now my third (used) autochanger, I'm not particularly in the market for another used one, because they're just a bit of a ticking time bomb. I have the former two autochangers still kicking about, however. So... anyone any good at repairing these/know of anyone?

I know the answer is 'bah, just replace for a modern head unit, why do you want CDs, you're an old man etc'  :D but I would like to retain my autochanger.

DC012, as per early FLs, by the way that goes with the SC804 head unit.  :y

What make is it? Might be possible to fit an aftermarket from the same manufacturer  :-\

Is that the 6 CD autochanger, mounted in the boot? I have one of those, it is inclined to jam, or decide some of its CDs shall not play. When it jams, I remove it from the boot, unjam it, put it back, and it works again for a while. Even more important to me, the head unit plays tapes.

DC012 is Phillips shite IIRC.  What you *may* find is an MP3/iPod/etc emulator for it, as they were common amongst many marques under fifferent names.

+1 to all of the above.

For pedantic originality fitting the exact same would be ideal, however another autochanger would be a perfectly fine swap - no idea if it's as simple as figuring what each pin does, chopping and swapping plugs over, though  ???

The SC804 supports a couple of other changers iirc

I'm sure some of the Grundig units work but I can't find the information at the moment :(
