Ordered a new battery from them yesterday, paid for standard delivery, arriving today.
Glad I didn't pay the extra for express delivery ;D
Identical Varta stop/start battery as fitted, over £100 cheaper than anywhere else, even EPC with a 45% discount.
For an extra £15 fitted by a local garage (they arrange), saves breaking my back trying to lift it out myself.

Tayna, I think, AA.
They're first class. I use them for cars and golf buggy batteries. Never had any problems.
-
Indeed, we (family) have been using them for a good number of years.
I see no reason to shop anywhere else tbh. :y
-
Likewise.
I'm sure I've read of someone having a problem with them, though... probably TB ;D

Genuine Vx for me on TC.... that was four years ago £65 iirc.... priced one up for a neighbor last year...£150+!!! Seems like the 'best' battery to get fluctuates annually. Good to see there's a good option out there at a not-stupid price.
And I thought as EVs increase in popularity and as battery technology progresses we are being promised batteries should get cheaper? Hmmm! ::)

How much was a Merc one?

How much was a Chinese one with a Merc sticker on it?
FTFY Al! :)

not the same type of battery! Standard 12v lead acid batteries have barely changed for over 100 years; modern ones are a bit more powerful/reliable/durable than older ones, and a lot cheaper.
When a decent branded battery suitable for an Omega is readily available for about £60, how much cheaper do you expect them to get?

£158.00 AMG Stop/Start.
Could have bought cheaper, but I wanted one the same as was originally fitted.
It's a bloody big battery :)
-
I buy my batteries from Tayna. Havent tried Tanya yet.

I'm not saying I demand all batteries to get cheaper per se - my point being for the same battery in four years the price rose by something like three times. I am aware I'm comparing battery apples and oranges in lead acid vs. li-ion, 'twas just a generalised comment in that respect. :y
-
Used then a few times , always had good service from them :y
-
I see AA has changed the title to the correct the spelling. Naughty admin.

you're still stuck on the TC is the only way to buy standard consumables delusion. What's happened is they've reduced the discount given to a retail customer.
-
For the Vauxhalls, I'll stick the TC, as its about the cheapest, plus backed by a usable warranty (you call dealer, they fit another for you whilst you drink coffee), unlike many mail order shitholes, where you have to send it back and wait for ages for a replacement, catching the bus in the meantime.
Tayna are on my list for when the XJ needs a new battery, due to some personal recommendations. Not the cheapest for branded, though.
-
I bought a 115 amp leisure battery from Tayna 8 years ago, still going strong.
-
If you can be bothered, drop your old battery into the local scrap dealers, usually 10-20 quid depending on size
-
Hmmm, Tayna's offerings don't seem to match the spec I need (for a brand I've heard of) :(
Looks like Hellfrauds it may be, for a Yuasa. Cheaper than Tayna as well, surprisingly :o

I went onto the Varta website, got the spec from there, then went onto the Tayna website.

I put a Yuasa in my Omega when the original packed up. It was the only battery I ever had to buy for it. :y

A well maintained, regularly used V6 Omega isn't hard on batteries. I think my old beloved Silver Bullet had its 3rd battery a few months before it was scrapped, when it was over 19yrs old. That battery is now on TBE, after the battery I bought the car with in 2010 suddenly failed either earlier this year or late last year.
-
Think I put two on mine in the seven years I had it, but it did have a few spells of sitting idle in spite of managing an average 24k a year...

Its letting them go partially flat, like leaving them for a couple of weeks, that knackered them. Else anything should be good for several years.
Not sure if any of the taxi stuff added extra drain, or those silly headunits you used to like...
-
The taxi gubbins was all switchoffandonable :D
As for the head units, even with everything removed that car still had a drain of a couple of amps ::)

Even after the consumer relay went off? :o

Yup, that shutting off dropped it from four+. Had it been a daily driver, then the consumer relay would have been next.
By virtue of the 'accessories' it didn't get used quite so much, so usually I pulled the two primary fuses from above the battery.
The accessories were run directly from the battery, so were easy to rule out.

Generally, those sorts of drains are easy to trace. Obviously it needs an element of enthusiasm and a decent wiring diagram though.

The latter wasn't the problem ;)
