Title: Cam cover gasket replacement further advice
Post by: rds on 22 December 2019, 13:08:23
Hello

ref the guide:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90597.0

is the perceived wisdom NOT to use gasket sealant all the way round the faces so as to assist the rubber seal or not?
re the photo in the guide shows sealant on the arches, there is a futher note contradicting it.

1 What is the best approach for a leak free seal?

2 What sealant have people had good and bad experience with?
3 Is this a good time to go further and clean the cam followers out? I do get some ticking on start up after 2-3 days inactivity.

Many thanks and Merry Christmas

At risk of repeating myself, only apply sealant to the corners of the front cam bearing caps.  ;)

Overhauling the lifters could be done, but you will need to change the cam belt to do so. Even then, by the very nature of their position and design, they will always drain down if left any time...
