Hello all
I am not a friend of Christmas celebrations, but this year i decided to take a long run to visit my old mom in Berlin, using my winter Omega.
1.000 miles in two days.
It was great. My 97 Omega Caravan did a fantastic job.
By the way.... TUEV (MOT) is new since Dec 23. Another two years.....
Best regards
Rolf

All the best! :y :y
I guess you'll be watching Dinner for One at some time soon! :y ;)
-
Thanks Andy
Do you know " Dinner for one" ? I thought it was a German produktion by NDR (Northern German Broadcast) in the 60s.
It is the most replayed sketch on all German TV stations. Sylvester without "Dinner for One" is not Sylvester.

There was an item on the news not long ago about the German obsession with 'Dinner for one'. :)
All the best, Rolf.

I think it was you that originally mentioned it here and nobody had heard of it. A few years ago it was mention on the telly that though it was very popular in Germany and the Scandinavian countries it was relatively unknown here. Surprising really as Freddie Frinton was very well known in his day.
Apparently it was shown here for the first time on New Year's eve 2018 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinner_for_One

Glad to hear you had a good trip Rolf, although if Germany's roads are as busy as Britain's over Christmas you'd have been sat in the comfort of your Omega going nowhere fast! ;D
Although having said that I did a quick flying visit to Kings Lynn on Sunday and back Monday (about 550 mile round trip) to visit an elderly relative and only had a couple of minor hold ups. :y

Thank You Sir,
my Omegas are castles on wheels.
Dreaming of a trip to the northern cape of Europe next summer.....

Hi Rolf,
Seasons greetings. Hope you are keeping well.
TUEV . Are they every two years in Germany? In Spain it is every two years till ten years old and then it is every year. Commercial vehicles like vans are every six months. 45 euros each time .

Hi Varche,
here in Germany you have to test your car by TUEF or similar organisations every two years. Conditions are very hard. The guys there know your car in every detail. But i do it too, so we we get in friendly cooperation. I never had problems with that.
First i am testing, second Tuev is testing. We do the same way, because we both know Omegas problem zones.
Price is 110 €.
Best regards to Spain

Crikey! That is a lot.
I bought my car from a VW dealer in Germany two years ago. Had already got a discount. The dealer said he had to TUEV it before I could collect it. We negotiated a further 100 euros off as it wasn't needed ( I had to have one in Spain when it was re registered here) If I had known it was so much I would have asked for 150 off!

Problem in Germany is, you can not get a license plate without guilty tuv report. So i am forced to let be tested all my 3 Omegas every 2 years.
But of course, i have only one in use....at the time

Glad you got home ok...Chris Rea didn't...his car failed the MOT :)
-
Hi Tony,
my Omegas have no problems with MOT. My 98 limousine has 10/20, my 01 Design Edition Caravan has 07/21 and my Wintercaravan (built 1997) has 12/21. No problems at all.
Best regards

Rolf…..there was subtle joke there.....
Every Christmas for about the last 8 years, Chris Rea's song 'Driving home for Christmas', is played over the airwaves here. Some wag decided to make a joke about him not driving home because his car failed the MOT :)
