Title: Just a thought.......
Post by: iggy21uk on 05 December 2006, 19:39:53
If we stop slagging off Vauhall Dealers just for the sake of it. We could try and get
Trade club card for say senior members from a Vaux nationwide dealer?

We recommend a lot of genuine vx parts but like to do the fitting

Vaux dealers are not going to want lots of customer on trade card buying brake pads every 2 years

Seen it on another site [ not the ......]

Don't know how this thread will go  :question

tradeclub is nothing to do with dealers, so unlikely you'll get far with this one...

I think its a great idea Iggy - FYI I got a geniune Vx fuel filter on ebay for £3 delivered.

If trade card is not Vx scheme do they lose income by selling parts, or are they rewarded on turnover - I'll ask the General Manager next week when I see him.

I believe its one of those schemes where the dealer gets a discount back from vauxhall for each tc item sold...

So they're not fussed then as long as the stock shifts. May be a way in there then - I'll try anyway.  ::)

My parts manager told me that TC prices can be below the garage's normal buying price, so it's a special scheme where they get a (very) small percentage in profit from the TC price and this is why he has to record my TC number with each TC purcahse. This is also why not all garages participate. The reason some do is that they want to attract local garage owners and other trade buyers to them, so that they later buy standard spares that are not available on TC at normal trade prices. My parts manager however is very friendly and very happy to help, even though he realised by now that his boss will not get rich on may back...

The definative trade club answer

Tradeclub is a Vauxhall scheme where by Vaux give the dealer a rebate on the parts cost for trade club sales and hence the requirement for a trade club number......hence the dealer does make money but has to do a 'bit' more paper work......

To be honest, there not much of a dealer if they dont do it (note that some satellite dealers dont hold stock and hence dont offer trade club) because it can cover your base costs (if you promote it properly) and once you get all your local traders on it, they tend to buy non-trade club items off you to(with reasonable margin)......note, my old man keeps getting awards for his trade club penetration in his area....
