The 390GT that Steve McQueen used in Bullitt has recently gone "under the hammer" and made $3.74m[£2.86m]including fees :o

Wow, he could have bought all the omegas left and still have change for that! ;D

Was there just the one?
Apparently they used abuot 20 'lasssie dogs' for the Lassie films.......and no end of 'Skippies' for the TV series.
.....as for Flipper. ;D

There were 2 originals. One has been owned by the same family for many years - Steve McQueen tried to buy it from them before he died. It did the rounds recently linked with Ford to help promote the new Mustang. I’m assuming that is the recently sold one.
The other turned up in a (I think) Mexican scrap yard not too long ago - not sure what the current story is with that one.

Yes the one I referred to had been in the same family ownership for many years.

For me the 65-66 Mustang and the 69-70 look better than the 67-68. I am not sure how poplar the 67 sports roof would be if Bullitt has not been filmed.
The 65-66 fastback 5 slat rear quarter vents just look more refined than the 67-68 9 slat.
The 69-70 were the pinnacle of muscle car extremes before smog emissions and common sense prevailed. High water mark if you like.
The second issue I have is the 390 FE block. It does not compare to the 428 (again pinnacle of Ford excess) in my opinion. And also the 351 small blocks are arguably better (if tuning/racing etc).
My opinion only and in all fairness I wouldn’t turn down a 67-68!
