Title: Is it better to......
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 04 February 2020, 14:00:07
........regret things you have done and should not have

......or

regret the things you should have done but didn't.

I always end up doing things I should not. :)

Regret nothing. You make the choices you do for a reason. If you make bad choices, next time try and make better ones ;)

True.

If you make a poor choice at least you will know for sure.

I'm optimistic so naturally presume things will work out for the best.

Some people can be given 99 reasons why something will work and just one possible reason why it won't.......they then cling on to that one reason. :-\

That is pessimists for you.

Both. When you do things you shouldn't, it may well hurt other people. Which is why the "never regret" attitude irks me somewhat.
If your actions have a negative effect on others, you should regret it.
I have a long list of both and regret both equally. The things I didn't do and should have are mainly financial. If I had chosen the other option on two or three occasions I would be well off now.

As part of the French car scene you are a wealthy man indeed. :)

Better to seek forgiveness than ask for permission?

Regretting and taking responsibility are two very different things.

For example, I wish I had done things differently twenty years ago, but I don't regret my choices. Although I do accept that those choices have lead me to where I am now.

I wonder what has prompted this thread?  ???

Has our Lord been kicked out for some misadventure or other, and is now living in a bedsit in a HMO full of Eastern European field hands in downtown Boston?  :D

Maybe it would be best for him to pose the question to his wife’s sister?
