Title: 2.5 V6 Timing Belt Change

Hi All

I am preparing to tackle the timing belt, so have got a Conti tech kit and the V6 Locking kit as well as ordered the DVD from here.

Do I need to change the water pump as well on this car?

Entirely up to you ;)

It's not belt driven, so not essential, but as you're in there...  :y

Yes, that's what I was thinking...…..

I can't find any anti freeze though, I can get waterless locally but its chuffing expensive and you have to use a pre solution doubling the cost!

then order some concentrated antifreeze online for delivery ,so you can later do a part drain and top up pre winter so it's strong enough .
or order enough for a complete flush/replacement

IMHO you'd be better off keeping the water pump already fitted if it's OE .... the consensus of the forum a while back was that a good used OE pump was better than a new pattern pump.

Car has done 76000 miles so will look and see what's what, but it will still need a coolant change just to ensure it's right, also a brake fluid change!

Cheers Dave, I had a look and I can order it from e-bay and Amazon, is there a specification for the antifreeze/coolant as there's quite a lot that's pre mixed and don't want to damage the motor.

it will be in the manual what coolant, being a bloke , I haven't read it  ;D
i use the pink or red O.A.T antifreeze on all the Vauxhalls
though colour alone is not definitive proof of what antifreeze is already in
some antifreeze types can NOT be mixed with others ,some are universal and can

 The genuine red VX antifreeze is not particularly expensive compared to other makes and at least it will be the correct stuff.

D'OH! It honestly didn't enter my thick head to get it from Vauxhall...…...I think this lockdown is affecting my brain!
