Title: Idle speed is lumpy. 3.2
Post by: Duke01 on 22 April 2020, 22:03:51
I don't have an idle control valve to clean do I?
How does the Dbw control it?
Mine is rough, although the engine is fine, its just the idle.
I'm doing the cam covers this weekend (Genuine gaskets), plugs, and breathers.
Is there anything I can do about it at the same time?

Thanks in advance.

Clean the throttle body and be sure to reseat the plenum properly when you refit it after the cam covers etc.  :y

No ICV on 3.2.
If lumpy at idle it may well be caused by oil in the plug wells. Coil packs might be on the way out if soaked in oil.
Do camcover gaskets. Clean out plug wells. Clean up coil packs with carb cleaner, petrol or some spirit or other.
If the problem is still there it may need new coil packs.

Also worth noting that the dbw 2.6/3.2 don't idle quite as smoothly as the cable throttled 2.5/3.0. As long as it isn't hunting, it is probably normal  :y

Also worth checking breathers, air intake and vacuum pipes.

Find my 3.2's always idle better when they have the lòad of the aircon compressor running.

Cam covers done.
Plugs were swimming in oil, and now currently idling just fine.
When I was halfway through it struck me that it would have made sense to pop a new thermostat in, but hey.

Thanks for the advice Gents.
