On my 2.6 CD I use 30 psi all round. You can blow them up harder but it makes the ride more uncomfortable. 225/55 tyres.

I don't think tyre pressures are an exact science. There is quite a broad range where they will be acceptable.

One thing though Kris, I used my own foot pump and the reading it got was completely different to the reading Kwikfit got. My pump over read by about 6psi, compared to his guage. :y

It's always best to check the pressures with a reliable gauge as some forecourt gauges  are notoriously inaccurate.

However the money that is saved on fuel is more than spent on paracetomol to cure the headache you will get by banging your head on the car roof when you drive over bumps! :D

wider tyres will wear more in the middle. personnally i tend to inflate a fraction more than the table, 32 max on 225 55, and 33 on 235 45 as you say.

hello everyone,  i have 235/45 17 tyres and they are all on 2.2bar. I will never use the forecourt tyre pressure guages as they are always out. I recommend you get yourself a halfords tyre pressure gauge ,  which is sold seperatly to the pump . The gauge will give you the precise pressure reading for  the tyre and then get a cheap pump!
