Title: 20se no spark
Post by: Tommy_d0 on 12 May 2020, 20:06:24
Hello! I’m new here and I need your help.
I’ve doing an 20se swap and I have some plugs disconnected ( you can see them in the first and second pictures) and I would like to know what they are for.
how to say i'm doing the swap but the wiring diagrams are a bit confusing. so far I can do with what the engine starts but I don't have a spark. I think I have to connect some more wire, because so far I can already boost the ignition relay (with one of the smaller black wires) and start with the red / black wire. if you could explain what each thread in the third and fourth pictures does, I would be grateful because the layout of the opel omega 20se that I found is very difficult to understand.

Hello again !I manage to connect some more wires but still don't have a spark. So far I can already boost the ignition relay and crank the engine. if someone could explain me what wires go to the ignition coil I would be grateful!

thanks!

You won't get a spark without the immobiliser working.

The engine I'm using is from an omega A from 1986... I think that at that time there was no immobilizer system.
I'm trying to understand the connections of the coil but I can't ( In the photo bellow the coil is marked with the black arrow). I know that the coil needs 12 volts at the positive terminal of the coil and an signal in the negative terminal right?

My apologies if this is a bit obvious.
What vehicle are you transplanting the 20SE into?
As I recall, hazily from 25 years ago, a 20SE from an Omega A/Carlton has an inductive impulse sensor plugged into the block at the front. This would provide the trigger for the ignition spark. Is it connected?

the car in question is an opel kadett C city !
I have this sensor connected but I will take it out and test it with a multimeter. After researching a bit I noticed the connections of the ignition coil because it has to have positive voltage from the main relay and an RPM signal coming from the ECU. Saddly with all this connected I still have no spark  :'( .

thank you for your patience

Well after I test every component with a multimeter I found a strange thing... on the inductive impulse sensor or crankshaft sensor plug two of the three terminals had continuity but in the electrical scheme you can see that this situation is not normal  :o
Any ideas or solutions? :-\
