Problems come not in single spies....
Now my combi oven has gone bozwonk, cutting out after 59 seconds (exactly) on any function, grill, convection or microwave.
 It's a Sharp R958 - any ideas, gents?

				define "cutting out"
tripping the RCD on the fuse box (consumer unit)  :-\

synchronous motor for the turntable is very common on microwaves ,they get filled with water

-
It just switches off, Dave, as if it has finished its task. No sign of water spillage. It failed after my son accidentally pressed microwave with a metal trivet in it: he very quickly cancelled it, and then it went into this "sulk-mode".  :'(

I'd check for internal fuses blown ,thermal fuses etc

then tell "Trivet boy" to stick his hand in his pocket  ;D :D

-
Accidental damage on the house[contents]insurance? or bin it and buy a new one.

-
It's surprising how many people microwave tinned soup. In the tin...  :D

-
It isn't worth claiming on Household due to the excess!! For what they cost, just buy a new one..

BG, spare a thought for my meagre pension!

Get that Dodgy Scouser of this parish to acquire you one, can't have you poor pensioners, having to spending your white fivers :fivers
-
Do you mean that if I went to a Liverpool pub I could get a "lorry-damaged" one for £5?  ;D

 Ron.
-
Not that far, they kicked him out of Liverpool, he now hides in Wakefield..

 Close.

Sounds like a thermal switch kicking in, if you try to re-start straight away does it and then does it go for a similar time, or do you need to wait for it to cool down

-
It will re-start straight away, for a further 59 seconds. I have had the casing off but could not identify any thermal cut-out and the only fuse that I could see was the mains fuse on the input panel, which obviously was sound. SWMBO is giving me grief!  :(

 Ron.
-
Unlikely to be a thermal issue if it starts straightaway.

So when it stops, it just halts, or does it think the timer has finished and bleep showing period end?
-
It beeps as if timing is complete, and switches off.

-
That's not good, hints that the circuit board has an issue.

Have you powered it off, removed the wall plug, and left it for a period of time to hard reset the micro?
-
Yes, several times! It's not a total loss; I can still warm my coffee for 59 seconds....

Blimey Ron are you that slow, you have to reheat coffee after making it with that new fangled electric kettle..
-
Yes, BG, because I have to listen to 'Er Indoors going on about something or other and my coffee cools down!  :(
