As above, a documentary on Lauda from the late 70,s. Very interesting so far. I remember watching it first time around. I believe I was still just about in my teens.

I watched "Rush" the other night, quite a good film :y

Great driver, nice bloke, film star looks. :)

James Hunt used to call him King rat. I found him an interesting character. Not a trace of the bullshit you usually find with people in his kind of position. He was honest and blunt and if you didn't like it, that would be your problem.

By 1979 he had retired age 30. But he had already started Lauda Air. :y
Today we have a load of 30 year olds still living with Mum and Dad. :-\
........but then the bug bit again and he returned to take a third title in 1984. :y
I liked old ratty. :y

Yes.....I think there was a mutual respect.
I imagine that Hunt got more pussy though.....as Nikki seemed slightly inept around women. :y

James was definitely of his time , modern F1 drivers are monks in comparison

Yes.....modern drivers are as dull as f*uck.
I imagine Hunt had a ciggy in his mouth while racing. Was there enough room in the car for a sexy blonde to straddle him. ;D

He certainly had plenty of alcohol and coke in his veins most of the time. It was probably all the coke that wrecked his heart so young.
Tbh Hunt was lucky to ever win a title. He wasn't really good enough to win one on merit, but Laudas accident gave him the chance. If Lauda had stayed on the track in Japan he could have scored a point or two when it dried up and he would have won three in a row.
Couldn't really knock him for not being willing to race in the circumstances, but the fact that Ferrari wanted to tell the media he had engine trouble but he told them the truth, was pretty brave imo.
