Title: Boot Release problem
Post by: dave.h on 04 June 2020, 15:18:05
My boot release only works using the key as the dash switch doesn't work.  I tried changing the switch but it's no different.

When I use the key fob and the boot is open, the dash switch stays lit until it's closed again.

I have checked all the fuses under the steering wheel fuse box and all are good from what I can see.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong?

Cheers

The button needs holding in to work. Not a quick press.
Also probably wont work if the engine is running.

There are mod's in the maint guides to amend how it works if you prefer.

This has caught out many an owner.

I think it's a great idea, on the Saab 9-5 the boot release button is on the drivers door.... it only needs a pulse (unlike the long press for the Omega).  2/10 times I exit the car I hit the bloody button with my knee.  ::)

The tailgate release on my Smart Roadster only needs a quick press on the button to open ... trouble is, it's next to the open/close roof button. When you get out of the car at traffic lights/etc to close it, you just need to try to give the impression that you meant to open the tailgate!  ::) ::)

Mine needs to be held for about a second, long enough to be deliberate, but not so long as to be irritating. Also works when the engine is running... Which is nice :)
