Title: Omega Mats
Post by: BSM on 06 July 2020, 17:44:23
Good afternoon

If anyone has a set of brand new and original Omega footwell mats for sale, with the Omega logo, I'd be grateful to hear from you, please. I'm able to buy bespoke mats from bespoke manufacturers, but I am seeking original mats which were available only from Vauxhall dealers.

Respectfully

Barry

Do you mean the carpet like mats not rubber ones?  I'd like some genuine VX rubber ones if they ever did them.

The last time I enquired, the were 3 sets left in Europe, that was 2 years ago.

There was a company in Milton Keynes making them, and yes I can't remember.

Thanks BG, I bought some cheapo rubber ones from ebay, but they don't have edges and are just cut from chequered rubber sheet. Not ideal for us country folk in the winter.

As said by Big Griffin, company in Milton Keynes makes to exact spec as genuine. In fact the local VX dealer never stocked VX mats as they always got them from the place. Name escapes me at the moment. I had a set made for the Monaro. They will do whatever you want colour wise, edge trim, logos etc
Off to find my memory, if I can remember where it is.............

The rubber mats in mine have Vauxhall, not Omega.
They do say 'Omega B' on the bottom sides in the factory / part nr. details.
Were there mats that said Omega on the surface? Carpet type maybe?

Yup the carpet ones, and only the fronts (possibly even just the driver's one)  :y

No, both genuine GM carpet fronts mats had 'Omega' woven into the fabric. I have a pair in the garage but rubber mats in the cars at the moment. I tend to put the rubber ones in for the winter but don't get round to replacing them with the fabric ones as early as I should in the spring.

For anyone wanting rubber mats, which I find are more practical in the winter, I bought some from the aforementioned Hi-Tech, and compared them with some ebay specials made from the shiny chequer plate style rubber.  Neither have a lip around the edge to prevent water spilling onto the carpet and both appear to be cut from rubber sheeting.  The Hitech ones have their own logo moulded into them and have very little discernable smell, whereas the shiny ebay ones have a sort of cloth backing and even several weeks after delivery smell like a tyre warehouse. I can only imagine what they'd smell like in the car in this weather.

My conclusion is, buy the carpet type from https://www.autostyle.co.uk/vauxhall-car-mats.asp (https://www.autostyle.co.uk/vauxhall-car-mats.asp)
and don't take your car out in the rain with muddy boots on. :y

Thank you all for your replies.

I had a set custom made; they're good, but not an exact facsimile.
