Hi fellow oofers, i hope you are all keeping safe. I know this question would have been asked before, but has anyone actually fitted a
2.6 into a 2.2. I have a donor 2003 2.6. If anyone has actually done this swap, was it straightforward. Any advice gratefully accepted. :)

Assuming both the same gearbox and body, you need the following from the 2.6:
Subframe.
Engine complete with wiring and ecu.
Chip and transponder.
Instrument cluster.
Diff.
Rear discs/calipers.
The job itself is pretty straightforward, no extra wiring required. Engine loom connects to the body loom with a round plug and the body loom, although you may need to change the body loom plug to the engine ecu.
Plan carefully to avoid issues.

before doing this swap, I would be inspecting both cars very carefully.
Unless the V6 is a complete heap, it makes more sense to me to improve a car that already has the V6, than to disassemble two cars to build one.

Thank you Nick, and Doctor. Two very good and helpful answers. Much obliged. :y

Minor point maybe, but what about the TC switch?
Also the exhaust / cat downpipes and the mid-sections assuming usable?

IF I was going to do this swap, I would replace the entire exhaust except for the manifolds. Used exhausts are hardly ever worth taking off a car.

TC wiring is in the dash already ;)
Besides, all it does is turn it off, doesn't stop it working ;)

I think a swap like this is really cool. Post photos of the process, please. Good luck! :y

Omegas, and Senators before them, have provided my family with cheap, luxury motoring for many years. But the bodies were not made to last for ever, and when the dreaded rust strikes, they have to go. I have to wonder whether your 2.2 body has enough life left in it to justify all this effort.
You could probably pick up a decent 2.6 for a song, if that's what you really want, but it's bound to have faults of its own.

Hi Fellow OOF'ERS,
Much thanks for all your informative and helpful advice. Beauty. I have owned omegas for over twenty years.
For cheap luxury cruising, in my view, they cannot be beaten. I would also state that the members on this forum sharing their
knowledge has allowed me to keep my lovely omegas on the road. Best of luck to all. :)
