Title: Track & Trace
Post by: Shackeng on 28 September 2020, 17:29:11
Can’t wait to download it. It runs as smooth as a Morris Marina and with as many faults, so I can probably incur at least £10k in fines for failing to self isolate after being wrongly advised of being ‘in the vicinity’ of a Covid contact. ::)

I went to Liverpool Heart and chest hospital this morning for a follow up echocardiogram and an electrical trace.  A bought a coffee, which was a bit stupid because you should wear face masks in the waiting room, but as I went to leave the cafe area, the lady asked me if I'd scanned the code on the wall.

Well no. I've not downloaded the app.
Then I got to thinking, well, this is not where you want to down load it. In a hospital. There's bound to be someone here with it.

What is the parameter for your uk app to trigger ?

Is it 15 minutes or more  within two metres?

I got asked today about whether a I had downloaded the Track & Trace app by HR in work as I am a Dept Head. Told them that if they can get it to work on the phone in my hand then I happily would.

The phone in question is a iPhone 4S with IOS10 (I think).

I actually use it for listening to music in work but they do not need to know that. 😄

I`m  confident that as much thought & planning that went  into the world beating Morris Marina, has been applied to the  NHS Track & Trace app  :-X

I downloaded it, seems to work ok, the bigger issue is the morons in cafes saying it doesn't work and has limited users when the QR codes they are displaying are for independent track and trace websites (e.g. Debenhams!)  ??? ::)

I have confidence in me and my family to do the right thing, the app appears to work (you have to try these things to make a judgement), the government is pretty irrelevant and used as an excuse by to many  :y

I was told to install it on my work phone, for when I go into office (6 times last year, once so far this year) and its supposed to work when out and about,
I leave the phone in the car so the chance of it triggering is slim. ;D

They already know pretty much everything about you anyways, so no reason not to download it  :-X

Normally I would agree with you, but there have been some concerns at false positive contacts being reported. My phone won’t run it anyway.

As more and more places are demanding you scan the QR code for entry, I have now downloaded the app.  ::)

I am now being tracked and traced!  :-\

I downloaded it and the Police came round within the hour and arrested me for a gold bullion robbery in London.  ;D

that's the work sorted for the next generation of psychologists and sociologists. Not this generation, as only the best of them might manage to remember how Rapunzel escaped from her cell. Of course only a very few of them will be competent enough to do it themselves :)

Much like the Track & Trace  expert roaming around our local shopping mall this evening.
As ppl walked past him they all got the same up & down scanning treatment
Until he pushed his luck a little bit too far & one the local females gave the moron a happy slap across the face  :o

Hmm, I can’t find anyone saying that Bluetooth can accurately measure distance and direction, Indeed all the reports I can find suggest the opposite, so I remain very suspicious that this is accurate enough. Apple/Google are using Bluetooth LE for this App which is no more accurate. Even if I could use it I would not be confident in its reliability.

And what is the issue if there was a false contact?

You have to possibly isolate for 14 days for the better good of society?

There is no perfect solution with these things but, we have to do the best we can with what we have...........or face a prolonged issue with an out of control Covid.

I very much doubt we will go into another full lockdown as we cant afford it. Plus the rest of the world hasn't and we need to be aligned to them or businesses will drop like stones

I'm okay with that. I can work from home. But there are so many people who just won't get paid. If you were struggling to pay rent, would you care about the better good of society.

Note that I have no solution, just highlighting why alot of people might not want to put society first.

as an aside, my Brother in Law had a kidney removed in Feb due to it being riddled with cancer.  He's not had the all clear, because his scan keeps being cancelled, but he still decided to go back to work with the new term into a residential special needs school, because he needs the money, and the grade and position he has only gets him statuatory sick pay.  I offered to pay him not to go, but he reckoned it would be fine.  after 4 days he was sent home because there's been a member of staff and 2 kids with it, and they decided his recent medical history put him at risk. Because he's not "sick" they are paying him.
