Cheap tax, 50 ish to the gallon, climate, cruise and most other perks so I think I will smoke it around for a while and bin my old Focus which is my usual daily shutter. The owner paid me more last year to service and cam belt it than he wanted for it so had to be done :y
-
Is that a 2.2 or a 1.9?
Have looked at them recently as something to kick around in if the daily fails it's MOT in a big way!
-
1.9 120 ponies, goes better than I thought it would, bit flat after my other one though ::)

It's a bit more reliable than the 16v lump :y

There's a seller on eBay I look at quite often as he has some really nice vehicles on sale , a couple of weeks ago he had a very nice one owner Saab convertible a lot of car for very little money, hope your new purchase serves you well.
-
Driven it for a week now,its averaged 46mpg over 230 miles and nothing has fallen off yet ;D

I don't think a Scandi Volvo would pull anything other than a blue rinse....

Oi! Volvo's are very roomy and comfortable I'll have you know! Plenty of room for a flexible leggy blonde Scandi girl! :y
If only I knew that from first hand experience! :-\ ::) ;D

Yet the 197k miles I put on my 16V lump suggests no real issues with that one either.

I may be jaded because my early facelift Vectra C 16v 1.9 was a complete dog. It had two inlet manifolds in the six months/25k I owned it (bought at a year old with 10k on it) along with a load of recall/warranty work. It never idled correctly even with the new manifolds. A '58 16v auto did nothing to improve the impression that first one made. Which is why the next three Vectra Cs I bought were all 1.8 petrols... All three of which gave less trouble than that first diesel (over 10x the mileage between them)
The 8v doesn't have swirl flaps and doesn't seem to eat manifolds.
-
Mine never had a manifold, it was original, sign of a bit of play in the swirls but nothing terrible.
As for idle, inlet manifold on a diesel can play no part in a lumpy idle :y
-
I think it had been a dealer demonstrator in north east Lundun. Never idled properly and used to soot up the manifold summat rotten.
Being stuffed into a roundabout was the best thing that happened to that pos. :-X

Poor idle with high levels of soot hints at an injector issue, sounds like the manifold may have been a symptom rather than cause.
Trouble is the modern engines are way to complex for most techs :-\

It was a Network Q car, so at least carried a year's warranty :D

Not quite a Donald as when I found out that the finance manager had lied about the Gap insurance when I wrote it off >:(
Still, she ended up in prison, so what goes around etc...
