How the hell can an update be over 12Gb.
Methinks crApple have lost* the plot.
*I'd argue they lost the plot when they lost God Jobs (both times)
-
Regular get a 8gb update from TomTom, for map updates.
-
The 'Japan' update of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was 16.9Gb
Then two subsequent updates of 6Gb and 4.8Gb soon after.
At least BigSur is a (practically) new OS

This was for the bloody laptop. And it took nearly and hour to do. In true crApple style, SFA works now.
Progress.

Aye, it would appear that IOS14 on my gayPhone 6S mullers the battery every since I installed that a couple of weeks back.
Apple have absolutely lost the plot.

Apple OS 14.02 downloaded last night with no problems, both on gaypad and gayphone 8. 6S is pretty old now.
-
6S is pretty old now.
See, I'm not a latest and greatest. To me, 5yrs old is not old.
The cynic in me thinks crApple up to their old tricks and purposely trashing older models to force me to upgrade. Downside for them is, due to a lack of *any* innovation in the last decade and ever more buggy releases, my next phone is unlikely to be a gayPhone... ...as much as I don't like Android shite.
And the cynic in me, given that my gayPad is around the same age, it won't be long before crApple decide to suddenly make that run poorly.
-
They know where you live too...
-
Well, the 12Gb update sucks. The Mac has crashed twice today, to the point of needing a press and hold of the power.
Great job, crApple.
-
And on the iPhone front, this morning I have factory reset it, and not restored from backup. Lets see if that helps the battery last a day without being used.
-
You should stick to apple pie, cider and apple pie
all other apple products are a waste of of time and money ;D

I do concur....
...but Apple Crumble with Custard wins every time. As long as its not in a pub that calls it Pomme Emietter with Creme Anglais. Because I'm not gay.

And iPads. And iPods. And a Mac.
I'll stick up vigorously for the iPod, but concede the others are gay.

My android phone does texts and phone calls and even takes photos 8)
apparently it can do other things too ,but so can a PC with a big screen you can actually see :-[ ::) ;D
-
The Apple philosophy is, 'The customer doesn't know what they want, until we tell them'.
Sounds like a dictatorship to me.
On the subject of phones, I've broken the screen on mine over the weekend. Grumble, grumble, there goes another £20 (this isn't the first time I've broken it).
-
Sounds like a dictatorship to me.
They're not wrong though.
When they launched the iPhone it was derided by many as a gimmick that hardly anyone would pay for. Look how well that prediction turned out ;D
-
Another shite Crapple update, await the flood of complaints that Bluetooth is not working on various cars following Crapple pushing an update to the phones and it being the cars fault.......
.......I always advise leaving a Crapple update for 4 to 6 weeks so they can fix some of the f-ups
-
Do they let you wait that long?
-
Wife's Bluetooth is working ok. Gayphone 8.

With my Trimphone, if it rings and I pick it up there is usually someone on the other end of the line I can talk to.
On the other hand, if I pick it up before it rings, and I can hear a BRRRRR sound, then I can turn the little wheel thing around to various angles that apparently represent numbers, and if by chance I get the correct sequence of turns I can hear a ringing sound, and after a few rings someone may answer it and I can talk to them.
Are there telephonic devices that do more than that?

722 Trim phone. Tone Ringing Illuminated Model, very popular back in the day.
As long as you don't mind your phone sounding like a demented budgerigar.

Weeks? Months. Or Years. They are several iterations into ios14, and each one creates more obvious bugs than they fix.

Strange that, so did I. Then again when I had to get extra clearance. Then again when I had to get clearance a few years later. Then again... ...and again... ...and again...

That's because it's a state secret that you've signed the OSA. And now you've disclosed that you've signed it the men in the Black van will be around shortly for an interview with no tea or biscuits.

They'll make him sing like a bird by holding a trimphone to his eyes till the radiation burns them. Could take a while. ;D

They only forget the biscuits because they are too incompitent to remember.

So, in 24hrs my factory reset phone with no apps or data installed goes from 100% to under 40%. That seems excessive considering it had no use in that time.
I suppose it could be coincidence that the point I went from IOS13 to IOS14.2 suddenly the battery started to fail..... ...but thats pretty unlikely.

Built in battery failure is a feature.

Settings > Battery
That will tell you what has been draining the battery, along with Screen On/Off time etc.
Settings > Battery > Battery Health
That will tell you if the battery is Donald or not.
ETA, Battery consumption is fine for me with iOS14 (iPhone11Pro)

Indeed Uncle Steve, but why blame a software update for problems with a Phone which is older than a Grandma? ;D

He won't be amused, you know, he likes to keep stuff for eons....and fix it when it breaks. I once heard he kept a washing machine going for 37 years. ;D

Batt health is running peak, 91% max capacity.
Application using most is 'dangle berries'.
Could be a failing battery, after all, this one is coming up to 2 years old, though the cynic in me thinks Apple fitted crap batteries when they were forced to do it cheap. 6S looks a bit more of a pain to change battery than previous. Debating if I can be arsed, or get another £200 Galaxy.

I might just go back to an old Nokia I have here. I'm sure the battery on that used to last nearly a week, even with lots of calls made.

6s batteries take about 30 mins to do normally, 2 screws, prise screen out, couple connectors, release the glue tab, replace.
Its 7 onwards thats a different ball game.
