Hi, My 2001 2,6V6 omega has lately started to use coolant. :-\
I wonder if there are some kind of self bleeding on the coolingsystem. ???
Because the coolant seems to disapear after engine is turned off, after engine has been running for some time and is warm (82C)
The milage on the car is 266000km.

Pressure test the system...
Likeliest places are:
Coolant bottle... Cracking around neck.
Radiator... Plastic tank next to the sensors.
Heater matrix.
The residual pressure will force the coolant out as it cools.
Park it on some fresh snow and see where it's dripping.

That list is the likeliest external places. There are others, and most of them are easy to trace as the coolant should be visible. If it lands on the engine you'll smell it.
Internal leaks are harder to diagnose without some more specialist kit than your eyes and nose.

I did the Cleaning of the V6 crankcase breather setup today, :y and had a look down under the plenum. Around the termostathousing was plenty of debri from coolant. :o So I think the leaking is somwere between the two cylindertops. ( Termostathousing, oilcooler....).
I did not have time to dig further down, :-\ but I will as soon as there is time and I don't need the car for a cuple of days.

That's pretty good news, as the thermostat is cheap and the oil cooler is better to do than a head gasket fault :y

Corroded oil cooler plate is probably the favourite then. As said, could be a lot worse. ;)

I'm not sure wether the 2.6 has an external auxiliary coolant pump, but one of my 3.2's has one and it's leaking.I sourced a new old stock one from a guy in Cyprus, but I believe you can get various aftermarket ones on Fleabay. :-\

Those pumps are the same as the one on the radiator :y

Two similar pumps in my 2.6, too. But they cannot leak between heads...

That was what I was thinking too. ::)
Must be termostat or oilcooler.
The engine only gets to 80C, so I think I will get a new termostat first and see what happens. :y

That certainly sounds like most of your problem :y
