Do WIM still have franchises, across the country? I have recently done the front suspension strut and springs. And set the camber up as close as possible using the socket method on here. I have been trying around the Darlington area to get the front tracked. The last one I went to today, put the car up in the air. Looked at the front setup and said they hadn't seen a setup like it. No one seems to be able to sort it for me. I am going back a few years, but took one of my omega's to a franchise in Mansfield.

There must be one tyre place up there that is capable... :o
It's two track rods and a couple of strut bolts at the front and two tie rods at the back... Hardly ground breaking stuff :-\

Thanks for the quick reply Doctor Gollum. That is exactly my thought. I even asked them to do just front, to get it better than what I set it at. But they seem dumb about it up here, or more like cannot be bothered. Even chatting with GastronomicKleptomaniac, who is roughly same area, he said that he is having exactly same problem. And if I find somewhere to let him know.
So that was why I was wandering about WIM. There used to be a map showing franchises.

Why don't you call Tony Bones at WIM, or PM him on his forum, and see what he recommends. Being in the business, he might know of nearby trustworthy places.

I'll agree with that. Then feel really old as its over a decade since I took mine to the man himself. Lovely chap, very patient and explained everything as he went.

I seem to remember WIM stopped the franchise experiment several years ago, due to lack of control of quality impacting on their reputation.
Best approach is to make sure everything is freed of, then take the car and a copy of WIM settings to a place with a Hunter alignment machine and give them the settings, and asking them to ignore the green / red bollix and set the ar up to those settings.

Many garages have invested a lot of money in these top-of-the-line alignment machines, but spent a fiver per hour on the knuckle dragger using it.

Many garages have invested a lot of money in these top-of-the-line alignment machines, but spent a fiver per hour on the knuckle dragger using it.
The thing is, the machine takes all of the hard work out of setting up, taking the measurements and doing the maths to display the numbers needed. And it recalculates everything in real time as the adjustments are done.
So all that's really needed is a user with an eye for detail who is prepared to listen to the customer.
I would suggest you ask if they know how to adjust the front camber and how far they'll go to free off the rear adjusters before they put it on the machine.
