Title: 1994 immobiliser ecu swap?
Post by: omegod on 03 December 2020, 11:02:51
I've had a parts request from someone who is having problems with their 1994 V6 , yes wowsers a 1994  :o!  apparent issue with the immobiliser ECU. I have an ECU kit from a 1995 V6 with the seperate remotes I can supply but would this be a case of swap everyting or needing to tape one of the supplied keys to the ignition or is the immobiliser code done via the remote ?

Not had much dealings with one this old!

TIA for answers

The later immobiliser gubbins won't work with an earlier car unless the loom is changed between the transponder and the ecu.

Someone else with detailed info may be able to suggest exactly when the change was, but you'll need the chassis numbers from both cars.

its no transponder based, so taping bits to steering column dont work.

Thanks,Sounds like the car in question has had some wiring messed with/stuff bypassed, I'll steer the owner in this direction
